John Harwood on Matthews…
This morning on Monrning Joe, John Harwood addressed the Matthews incident leading up to tonight’s debate…(via FishbowlDC)
Mika Brzezinski: With Chris Matthews as the host and the recent controversy about his comments about criminality in the Bush Administration, do you think this will be awkward? Will anyone take him to task for that?
John Harwood: I think that’s a question, you know? you could see a republican decide to take a shot at Chris and try to appeal to Republicans in that way. but, you know, they have got to calculate what’s the benefit of doing that and, you know, do I look bad if I do that? But that’s one of the dynamics in the backdrop here. I haven’t heard a lot of talk from Republicans. you know, there was some editorial traffic over the weekend, some blog traffic about that issue. I haven’t heard a lot of it up here in Dearborn, actually.

John Harwood = Democratic shill. I loved that morning when Joe Kernen called him out on it lol.

Lurker, I agree completely! He is an inside the beltway guy and not in touch with the heartland. Joe calling him out on it was the best TV CNBC has had all year. GO Joe!

Why does this guy keep saying “you know”? No Mr. Harwood, we don’t know. If we already know something you shouldn’t be getting paid to tell us the obvious.

Harwood is a big time player in the DC cocktail circuit, as is Matthews. And Harwood is just trying to defend “one of his own”.
Also, why is it a “mistake” in the eyes of the Beltway Class to attack a liberal MSMer, yet it’s “brave” to attack Fox News?

We shall see. I’m not thinking here about predictions… but POTENTIALLY this could get feisty.
Ron Paul!

I think Matthews will hold his fire, but will, and should ask the candidates if they’re okay with an administration where criminal activity has occured if they take him on.

Like what criminal activity, Dan?

Harwood just asked a question at the debate something like “should the government impose greater taxes on the oil industry or should the government direct the oil company to use their profits on other alternative energy supplies.
Anyone who knows anything about economics would know that this question or idea is absurd. It was tried in the command and control economies of socialist and communist countries with impoverishing results. This guy has no basic knowledge or appreciation of the incentives of free enterprise and capitalism. (Look at Mexico nationalized oil industry) He works for the WSJ but obviously never has read the editorial page of his own paper.
