Ron Paul on Carl Cameron on Ron Paul…
This is came via the Ron Paul website where Carl Cameron is interviewing Paul and someone is shooting both of them. It’s the standard campaign interview stuff until it gets near the end and when an odd exchange takes place…
CAMERON: How about Fox, how are we doing?
PAUL: Fox, I wish they would be fair and balanced all the time.
CAMERON [laughing]: Don’t we all.

I’d like to think Cameron was being candid, but I think he just said that to be friendly without thinking about what he was saying. Then again, it could be a Freudian slip…

That could be interpreted a few ways, but I think Cameron was agreeing with Paul that the network (and this would apply to all the cable news networks) should give “lower tier” candidates like Ron Paul more airtime.
What I don’t like about all the cable news nets is that they have all pretty much narrowed both fields down to three or four candidates and thus marginalize the others…and it must have an effect on the electorate’s perceptions.

^ #2: Why waste significant airtime on guys who will never get the nomination? Sure, give freak shows (like Ron Paul) a little bit for entertainment purposes, but that’s about it.
That’s why these debates are pretty much worthless. They don’t give the legitimate contenders a chance to actually give us something substantial and are geared more for the quick soundbytes.

^ #3: The nets didn’t determine who are the legitimate contenders — the people have done it, via polls. Lower-tier guys like Huckabee and Hunter, for example, get quite a bit of airtime on various cable (and talk radio) shows, but they still don’t pull in the poll #s nor the cash.
They just don’t catch on with the voters. Maybe they’re one-issue fanatics (Tancredo), from the same hometown as Bill Clinton and are annoying (Huckabee), have no personality whatsoever (Brownback), or are just plain batsh*t crazy (Paul).

amused, in my opinion, your assessment of “legitimate contenders” is exactly what is wrong with this country. Rich suits calling the shots, whilst a populist like Ron Paul will never get the nomination. Large corporate sponsors (who own MSM) spend big bucks on the “top tier” candidates of both parties ensuring they backed the winner, & then proceed to dictate policy, foreign & domestic. Yes I would like to see more of Ron Paul & his message. sounds abit like an isolationist as well, and I don’t think that is a particularly bad idea either.

I think he was just joking about the reputation of FOX News, unfortunately. However I would still agree with him!

Ditmar, please read #5. I know it sounds radical chic to rail against the “corporate suits,” but the reality is that in *legitimate* polls, Ron Paul doesn’t fare as well as “Don’t Know.” And that’s not counting the cell phone and Internet polls, which are spammed by the Alex Jones/Code Pink/David Duke/Council of Concerned Citizens crowd.
If you want more of Ron Paul and his message, just keep listening to psychotic 9/11 conspiracy nut Alex Jones’s radio show.
