Jonathan Klein interview…

The New York Post’s Cindy Adams interviews Jonathan Klein on a train…

Definitely not to link this next subject with endangered species, I asked about Campbell Brown’s coming debut.

“February. The 8 o’clock hour. It’ll be talk-intensive. We’ll surround her with fascinating people. And not too many taped pieces.”

Doesn’t 8 o’clock pit her against Bill O’Reilly?

“Yes. But she’s straight down the middle. With O’Reilly and Olbermann on the right and left, we think she’s perfectly positioned.”

Um. Not to put too fine a point on this, particularly since the program hasn’t debuted let alone had an EP assigned to it, but couldn’t the same thing have been said about Paula Zahn Now?

  1. Oh yeah, Campbell is straight down the middle, just like everything else that Klein puts on his little lefty news channel. If history is any indication, the program will consist of trying to stoke racial tensions and making Christians look bad. Cnn may be more subtle than Msnbc in its liberal ideology, but it’s there. They are just trying to be more smart about it.

  2. Ms Brown is not in the middle she is on the left, it`s her husband that is on the right.
Facts are that she was concerned that people were going to think she was not liberal because of her husband.

  3. Well, I know Dan Senor worked for President Bush in Iraq, but whether or not he could be considered on the right in his politics in general is something I don’t know. He may be very liberal in most other areas.

  4. She should replace left of center Wolf Blitzer. I would give her a chance. I thought she was fair on Weekend Today.

She does not have a snowballs chance in hell at 8 PM.

  5. I think Rick’s numbers are gonna look amazing compared to Campbell’s…I actually watch his show pretty regularly. Unless CNN has something amazing cooked up for Brown’s new show, I highly doubt she’ll be able to keep my attention.

  6. CNN doesn’t want to compete at 8pm. And I think hiring CB is nothing but a big waste of money.. which could be used to hire top 10 talent. Anyway, prove me wrong, CNN!
