FBN Launches: FBN reports on CNBC (sort of)…

FBN’s Stocks Editor Liz MacDonald reported live at the top of Money for Breakfast this morning from across the street CNBC’s Englewood Cliffs…

Peter Barnes: Liz, you hanging out with the cows out there this morning in North Jersey?

Liz MacDonald: We’re out here in sleepy, bucolic Englewood Cliffs – it’s kinda cold out here…It’s hunting season and we hear that peacocks are in season. Who would have thought that anyone could cover the stock market out here, but here we are and we’re gonna give it a go!

  1. Maybe it’s just me, but I didn’t find this segment/gimmick very funny at all. Seems kinda cheap, especially for day 1.

  2. what a way to start off. how can business people take seriously a business news channel that wants to play games. when it comes to peoples $$$ they dont want to play games. but it’s just typical ailes/murdoch MO. really pitiful.

  3. Harry, Shut up! We know you are against Fox whatever they do. You’re useless on this blog.

  4. Lurker, the same Fox fans are repetitive too but I don’t demand that they shutup. No need to be rude.

  5. While a little cheesy, the “Englewood Cliffs” stuff was cute. For Fox Business, it is “hunting season” and they are indeed hunting the NBC Peacock. So far, the network seems to have the “new network smell” and is stiff. The presentation is a little wooden, but Eric Bolling does make it easier. In time, the Fox Business will work itself out and be looser in its presentation and will get into a groove.

  6. Not really, Fox fans will say bad things about Fox. Like how Heather sucks on Big Story, how Courtney Friel needs atleast another 20 iq points etc…

  7. mike, he learns from his idol BO. but honestly is this something a legit news channel would fill its air with. NO! fnc and now fbn give journalism a bad name, claiming they are NEWS when they are just another entertainment channel. always suggested spud change the name to the fnc blog. seems he plays into the hands of the pr nuts at news corp.

  8. Yes, Harry… FOX is bad… everything they do is bad. *rolls eyes*

Tell me, have you ever liked anything that FOX has done? Or are you so consumed in your hatred of all things FOX, that all you see is negative after negative. I notice you only appear on this blog to post negative stories (that rarely have anything to do with the topic at large) about FOX. Clearly, you’re very open minded.

Oh, and Mike… I guess you haven’t been reading Arthur’s responses to SHANE of late. “Shut up” is now a common phrase (unfortunately) appearing on this blog.

  9. They can’t shut me up. Don’t you just love FREE SPEECH! ImNotBlue I’ve had people around the world try and shut me up. It never works!

  10. the point of reporting from your cometisions backyard and throwing cheap shots is what? i would belive anyone wanting to tune into stocks, or buisness news, dont need bs, and childish activity, because your network wants to be as cocky as it can be to get some pr.. then again we are talking about FOX, the network who relys on Entertainment, comedy, and controversey….

    Comment by don — October 15, 2007 @ 12:50 pm

  11. don, your selective outrage at this particular instance of “cheap shots” is very telling. Olbermann, Matthews, Abrams, etc. etc. etc. don’t bother you? How interesting… and predictable.

    Comment by ImNotBlue — October 15, 2007 @ 2:26 pm

  12. Maybe because Olbermann, Matthews and Abrams have nothing to do with the topic in hand? Just a thought.

    Comment by Mr A — October 15, 2007 @ 2:32 pm

  13. Mr A… nope they don’t… except that don only seems to comment negatively on FOX stories. Interesting! And what’s more interesting, is that in this particular post, the things he complains that FOX does… are things done by the other networks too… but he never complains about them.

Selective outrage, my friend, makes his point less genuine… and just more “I hate FOX, and everything they do” foot stomping.

  14. Not a big fan of Fox News or anything, but I have to say I found this a little amusing. Little rivalry between stations. I didn’t feel anything sinister in this ..

  15. CNBC had a truck parked outside of FOX News all day today. How can CNBC be taken seriously if they want to play games?
