I’ve been had!
This story on the Hardball Campaign ad which I blogged about last Friday turns out to be complete and utter rubbish.
I got duped. It appeared to be a genuine announcement at the time. But MSNBC saw it and contacted me to say that it is in fact bogus. It appears to me like someone was looking to cause trouble by creating a fake email or altering a real one in order to either mess with Chris Matthews or to get Giulliani’s name out there. I have no idea.
So apologies to Hardball, Chris Matthews, and MSNBC for the fake release.
Hold the phone…. Maybe Hardball changed their mind when Chris found out it was a Giuliani ad he was endorsing? Maybe the corporate GE masters cracked down when they found out it wasn’t? I dunno, but I’d question what they’re telling you now. What part was rubbish exactly; that they had an ad campaign competition, or that the Ron Paul ad got the most votes, but their “jury” didn’t like it, so they were embarrassed to announce anything at all?

No I should have paid closer attention. If I had stopped to think a bit first I would have caught on the email was bogus.

I don’t recall this damaging Rudy in any way. In fact, I never saw this story on the any of the networks, or any of the networks lambasting Spud for putting up a bogus story. Guess this wasn’t really news
