Comment by Edward Schatz — October 17, 2007 @ 7:38 pm

Comment by Daniel Berch — October 17, 2007 @ 7:53 pm
#1: what olby beloves is the LSD demo. 2nd.
Comment by Gramps — October 17, 2007 @ 8:06 pm
Edward: Stop that! You know that we only talk about the demo numbers when Olby does well!
Comment by Tom P — October 17, 2007 @ 8:06 pm
At what point do they put Morning Joe down like a horse
with a broken leg. Thirty three thousand is pretty weak.
Comment by lalo — October 17, 2007 @ 8:53 pm
Does anyone know where I can get the 5pm #s ? I just want to see if Matthews #s suck as badly at 5pm as they do at 7pm.
Comment by Gregg Smith — October 17, 2007 @ 8:54 pm
Live w/ Dan Abrams- 316,000 viewers (112,000)
LOL

Gregg…you can go to Tvnewser.com to get the 5pm numbers. And yes, the numbers suck just as much at 5.
Comment by Anonymous — October 17, 2007 @ 9:19 pm
Thanks. Just checked his 5pm #s at tvnewser.com and they are as pathetic as 7pm #s.
Comment by Gregg Smith — October 17, 2007 @ 9:29 pm
Matthews sucks, Olbermann sucks, Abrams sucks, Tucker is great. Unfortunately they all SUCK at getting viewers.
Comment by Aaron — October 17, 2007 @ 9:36 pm
When Joe does worse than Mad Money, Fast Money, and Deusch, then it’s time to go
Comment by Jim — October 17, 2007 @ 10:54 pm
I have always wondered why they dont change the time slot of matthews?? I dont recall him ever tryin out a diff hour. Not sure who he should go up against though?? Maybe he is the best lead in possible for Olberman….. As far as lead ins are concerned I have recently wondered why Hannity and Colmes is not holding onto Oreillys Big numbers… Where do all those viewers run to??
Comment by clak — October 17, 2007 @ 11:01 pm
“competes” w/H & C, not “completes”. Time for bed.
Comment by Missy — October 17, 2007 @ 11:30 pm
Wow, Morning Joe keeps losing viewers…because it’s awful!
Tucker is the only show I watch on MSNBC anymore.
Comment by moonbeam — October 18, 2007 @ 9:12 am
Gramps: also, I notice that the Olby-friendly TVN claims that the LSD (appropriate that an Olby lover uses those letters) numbers are what matters in his “lock” and “dominance”
Comment by eddiebear — October 18, 2007 @ 9:42 am
Okay - I last watched Matthews circa 2004 when he was spoofed big time in SNL, I watched him again conducting a debate with the Seattle tower behind. It was very funny to watch, and I will watch him again just for the funny factor. He makes bold statements like “Learn to debate gentlemen”, “listen to what the other person says” etc with in his typical slobbering tone, when he seriously has to learn how to conduct a debate. There were a few more comedies as well. I hate to add a # to his demo but the guy is hilarious. I love it when theres something wrong with the mike or the video and poor Matthews looks like a buffoon waiting for someone to move or show a banana!

I was wondering how commenters at this site could be so deluded, thinking Olbermann’s ratings are going down while in fact they’ve clearly been going up precipitously for quite some time now. But selective attention clearly is a big part of the explanation. That’s on full display in this post. There are four sets of numbers for the 8 o’clock shows: Live overall, live demo, LSD overall, LSD demo. [Oh, and eddiebear (#18): the “LSD” abbrev. is used on this blog in the reporting of the numbers, so that’s where it’s coming from, at least for me. But, yes, it’s funny when deluded Olby haters use it.] Olbermann takes 2nd on three of those four ways of measuring, and on some of these, those behind him aren’t even close. But what conclusion do the people here seem to draw?: that he takes 4th.

Blue: I thought Elmonica was back in jail!
Comment by Ira — October 18, 2007 @ 12:33 pm
Gramps: First off, nice to see MSNBC staffers are hitting this site.
Olby lovers have to use a second, “modified” set of numbers and move the goalposts to defend their guy. First, it’s THE DEMO. Then, when he falls back to 4th, it’s the OVERALL numbers. Then, it’s tivo and youtube. Then, it’s “well, but he is gaining”, or whatever.
What’s next? Myspace? College newspaper endorsements?
But never fear! I sense a “Special Comment” in the offing in an attempt to revive his ratings.
Comment by eddiebear — October 18, 2007 @ 2:10 pm
#18, where is Elmo? Haven’t seen her drivel lately.
Gramps, not one advertiser uses the live plus numbers. They’re completely irrelevant.
Comment by bigred — October 18, 2007 @ 2:56 pm
What’s your point bigred he beats Rick Sanchez without DVR viewers- just check out the ratings for last month.
