Cooper in Peril?

E Online’s Marc Malkin blogs about Anderson Cooper’s “roughing it” for Planet in Peril…

“What I really learned is you actually have to go into nature to report on the environment, which is sort of annoying because I really don’t like nature very much,” Cooper said last night at a Netflix-hosted preview of the series at Grauman’s Chinese Theater in Hollywood. “And to be with Jeff Corwin, who really does seem to enjoy it, was a little disconcerting.”

The 40-year-old anchor tried to share Corwin’s enthusiasm. “He would literally go off at 2 a.m. in the middle of the Brazillian rainforest with nothing more than a flashlight on his head, and I would trudge after him with a little video camera and also a much weaker flashlight,” Cooper said. “But after about three nights, I realized that was my idea of hell, because there are things you have never seen before flying around and hitting me in the face. Jeff would be like, ‘Oh my god, look, it’s the pygmy tree frog!’ and, literally, the frog would jump onto his face. That is my idea of hell…I did about three nights of it, but then I was like, ‘No more!’”

  1. AC should go on the View to share all of icky experiences. But seriously, why is this guy picked to report on big stories? He seems better suited to be Lindsey Lohan’s counterpart on “Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen” than a cable news anchor.

  2. Anderson knows people are kind of watching him right? I mean there is a camera in front of him sometimes, that should tip him off. I wouldn’t be add libbing if I were him.

  3. ???. I must me missing the points that are trying to be made in the two above posts?

  4. Ditto, myview. Particularly True warriors. Who could forget the Democrat’s internal war, their 58 meaningless stop the war war votes in congress (still counting) ….

Did Anderson get elected to something? when did that happen?

  5. Myview, I’m willing to bet about 80% of posts around here are off topic and/or just the other “side” chiming in on something they don’t bother to watch. And that goes for both sides. But, at least there’s a few decent commenter’s left. However, I doubt they’ll stick around much longer at this rate.

  6. It is ridiculous for cooper to go around saying he didn’t enjoy doing this project… Sometimes he really goes out of line to say what he thinks, even when it clearly is the most moronic thing..

  7. Winning an argument on the internet is like participating in the Special Olympics, even if you win, your still “Special” Why not, get back to commenting on the topic, instead of critizings the other posters?

  8. The people on your side love to pay lip service to war and battles and front lines, when in reality all they do is battle people in this country and accomplishing nothing.

Aaaaand… this relates to Cooper how?

My point remains - he’s not elected to anything, so I have no idea where your slam at the ‘Dems’ fits into this; no one knows his politics and he’s as likely to be a ‘Rep’ (perish the thought) as a ‘Dem’. And in fact when it comes to ‘lip service’ and front lines, he has probably been in more warzones and front lines than the average Army corporal.

  9. I’m I the only one who has notice how the the title logo of CNN’s “Planet in Peril” special looks like the “Planet of the Apes” movie title logo”?..dose this mean the real peril is humanity being taken over by a race of super monkeys? LOL!!!

  12. It will be interesting to see how many people are going to give up their primetime TV shows to watch the PIP documentary.

  13. Maybe that’s why so many people like Anderson.
He is not so “buttoned up” and following the company line.
He did his duty to go into these hell holes and then had enough! He told an inconvenient truth.

  14. Anyone who watched that already aired segment on AC360 a awhile ago knows AC was indeed quite jumpy when it came to the wildlife in the Amazon. It was rather endearing watching him be so skittish all the while JC was in his absolute glory. AC has done many interviews in the print media and on TV and it is obvious he is very proud of this documentary and pleased to have been part of it all. So he doesn’t exactly like some bugs etc.. it doesn’t mean as one poster said here that he didn’t enjoy doing the project.
