Glenn Beck and the fires…

The Huffington Post’s Jason Linkins blogs about Glenn Beck’s comments regarding some of the residents of Southern California who are losing their homes in the fires down there. Beck does realize that the Southland is the more conservative end of the state, doesn’t he?

Amid CNN’s full-spectrum coverage, however, only one man has had the guts…err–rather, the mental derangement–to find the silver lining in the inferno. That person? Glenn Beck, who told his listeners, “I think there is a handful of people who hate America. Unfortunately for them, a lot of them are losing their homes in a forest fire today.”

Uhm…okay. What’s the context? Somehow, Beck was attempting to make a point about how we “need to come together” and how “we’re all one America” and that “just because I disagree with you doesn’t mean you hate America,” and somehow, instead of all this heading towards some great big Kumbaya-drum-circle moment where Noah’s dove lights on Beck’s shoulder and the entire world gets bought a Coke, it culminated with Beck celebrating how the Fire Gods were smiting the domiciles of our nation’s enemies.

  6. I live on an island and my home could get wiped out in a minute if a hurricane hits. Some think we’re nuts to live here and they may be right but it’s a chance we take. I heard Beck yesterday and he wasn’t wishing anything on anyone - he was just running his big mouth as usual.

  8. Moonbeam + Shane - Don Imus was joking too, so what is your point of Glenn Beck was joking?

  9. Given that it was so lighthearted, you think he’d have the balls to go tell his little joke in Southern California?

Would your acute sense of humor also enjoy, say, a joke about dead U.S. soldiers? Hey, it’s only a joke, right? And apparently it’s okay to joke about tragedy hitting anyone who may have put themselves in harm’s way, which soldiers, do, right?

What a hilarious guy that Beck is.

Thankfully, his hilarious comments are flying all over california blogs right now, right and left.

  10. Moonbeam - So your sense of humor suddenly evaporates ehh? Thats how victims will feel as well when bozos like Beck go on about this serious subject jocularly.Beck is acting out an Olbermann.

  11. you’re tedious mac. I heard the guy and what he said is being twisted as usual - it’s not as sinister as you’re making his comments out to be but you obviously want to think the worst. I do agree about Beck and Olbermann are both bozos.
