Spin Control…
The L.A. Times’ Andrew Blankstein writes about Glenn Beck’s California fire comments on Monday…
On Tuesday, Beck said his comments were misinterpreted by “a few liberal bloggers.”
“The wildfires in California are a tragedy,” he said during his radio program. “I don’t want anyone to lose their home. I don’t care what their political stripes are. I don’t want a soul to lose their home, and anyone who doesn’t want to make me into an evil supervillain would understand that.”
“Those who don’t listen to the show … , let me give you a little piece of advice,” Beck added. “You have to engage what I would like to call your brain. You actually have to think: I might be making a joke; I might be serious.”
That knife cuts both ways Mr. Beck. You might want to engage that thing you would like to call your brain before you shoot your mouth off with an ill-advised attempt at humor. It can cause trouble, y’know (see: Imus, Don)

Beck should just man up, admit he said what he said, and apologize for it, as well he should.

For how many years was Mr. Beck addicted to illegal drugs? I’m sorry…I need to show more compassion for the mentally impaired.

Definitely apologize. Joke or not, this was neither a time nor subject for joking.

On the View George Carlin said pretty much the same thing as Beck..let’s see if there’s the same amount of outrage from the same quarters about his remarks.

Dmuse… why would that matter at all? Afterall… isn’t it the PC crowd who would say that he had a “disease?”

Going after Glenn Beck, the Left really is desperate. I am sure, he appreciates being elevated…by the snarking class.

What did Carlin say?

#8: “The PC crowd”, otherwise known as the American Medical Association and others, might well be correct to label alcoholism and drug addiction “diseases”, but use of ILLEGAL, controlled substances is still a CRIME. Not that Beck ever takes any absolute positions on crime or criminals, right?

Carlin says he likes it when people die.George has been saying that for many years BUT he’s one of them so he gets a pass.
Comment by SHANE — October 25, 2007 @ 2:14 am
Well he is a comedian, Carlin I mean. Don’t know enough about Beck to actually watch him but I don’t think he’s quite my cup of tea.
Comment by Alison — October 25, 2007 @ 9:50 am
Dmuse… so are you suggesting that anyone who takes a position on crime or criminals should be arrested for past offenses, even if they have since changed their ways? So should someone like Bill “didn’t inhale” Clinton be arrested for possession… and perhaps Barak Obama too, didn’t that book say he did cocaine or something?
Anyway… you didn’t answer why any of this is important. So why is Beck’s history an issue at all?

Let’s see the MSM will bash Rush and Beck but will say nothing about Carlin and Ted Rall and his latest anti-troop cartoon?
What Carlin said was far worst than Beck but is praised the MSM and Rall’s cartoon about the Troops is more outrages than the made up uproar over the taken out of context “phony solider” remarks by Rush.
I hope Beck brings up the Carlin remarks and Rush the Rall cartoon to point out the double standards of the MSM,
