Mancow, Jacobson tape FNC pilot…

The Chicago Sun-Times’ Robert Feder reports that Mancow and local TV reporter Amy Jacobson shot a pilot recently for FNC…(via FTVLive)

Amy Jacobson, whose firing last July after more than 10 years as a reporter at NBC-owned WMAQ-Channel 5 made national news, taped a TV pilot Thursday with radio host Mancow Muller for Fox News Channel.

Their segments together were shot at the Loop loft where Muller broadcasts his syndicated morning radio show.

No word yet on when the pilot will air or whether it will get picked up as a regular series.

Jacobson was hired at Channel 5 by news boss Joel Cheatwood, who’s now senior vice president of development for Fox.

Update: An FNC insider tells ICN, “This is another classic example of Feder’s shoddy reporting. Had he fact-checked like a true journalist, he would have known that Cheatwood never hired Jacobson in Chicago — she was already there by the time he arrived.”

  1. ah so this is the Red Eye replacement? Good. The sooner, the better. And Mancow has real talent.

  2. fnc is one to talk about ‘fact checking’. they should try it themselves.

  3. I remember when Mancow was making appearances on Fox and Friends (I don’t think he does so anymore, but I haven’t seen F&F for quite a while)….his hyperactive delivery was really annoying. It seemed as if he chugged about 20 cups of coffee before he went on air and would talk a mile a minute and be practically screaming.

I suppose a show with Mancow could work, but he needs to dial it down a few notches.

As for replacing Red Eye…I don’t see that as happening. Gutfeld isn’t the best comedian by any means, but his ineptness has become a sort of endearing part of the show. It wouldn’t be Red Eye if he didn’t botch a few lines or butcher a few names when he is reading from the teleprompter.

  4. How about a Liberal or even non-political comedian on FOX News…

  5. Of course, what can you expect from a network who hired someone who model in a men’s magazine (Courtney Friel) to eventually become a weekend anchorwoman, while quite possibly seeing a far more legitimate (Uma Pemmaraju) talent perhaps being demoted again, while another (Patti Ann Browne) rarely being on camera.
