  1. While some of the comments are flattering toward Des Moines, it’s nice to know these liberal elites look down their noses at the place that is the political center of the universe every 4 years.

  2. I agree with the snobbish tone in many of these quotes, bigred, but I think they are reacting more to the absurdity of how the primary calendar has been pushed up to the point to where Iowa is now right after New Year’s and less to Des Moines.

    The whole thing has gotten out of hand and the idea that people will begin voting 10 months before the general election is worth a bit of dry humor.

  3. Pretty sad we’ve come this far since 1776, eh?
    But to expand on FishOil’s point, those extra months should make for a great cabinet pick, no last minute decisions.
