DirecTV NewsMix drops CNBC World in favor of FBN…
Update: I didn’t key in on the significance of the placement because my set-top DirecTV box is too old to take advantage of the more advanced functions of NewsMix. But the first NewsMix channel is the default channel selected which means it’s also the channel that has its audio piped through. So FBN’s placement in the first slot is a big deal…

For those in the “dark”, Directv gives you audio of the first channel by default.. then you can move the yellow box to change audio feeds or press select to “tune” the channel in full size.

Here’s what News Mix looked like prior to FBN’s addition and CNBCW’s heave ho.

They do this for football too, and it’s great. You can watch 8 games at once… and then when it looks like something important is going to happen, they highlight the box so you can click over.
But I still don’t like the dish.

^ Yeah, I really like the Tennis Mix channels which come on for a couple weeks at the beginning of Grand Slams. I guess you must have excellent cable or fios then? Fios isn’t available in my area yet and cable sucks.. at least at my house. So, I just kept the high speed internet part. Oh yeah, and Brighthouse was charging $8.50 per additional set top box too.. which is extortion.

Well… I actually have analog now… but I’ll be purchasing HD shortly… just as soon as I buy the television. However, I know people who work for the NFL Sunday Ticket which is essentially is the DirecTV football package.

Well, since Rupert Murdoch owns at least 34% of Hughes Electronics, the owner of DirectTV, they’d probably have an interest in pushing FoxBusiness… right? But you don’t mention that - you only trumpet that Fox is wiping CNBC out. Great, I wish them the best of luck, but your drinking of Fox’s Kool Aid sometimes makes this site un-readable. You’re a good, insightful writer. But have a bit of perspective. Don’t be a water-carrier.

KoolAid… we all already know that. That’s why Spud doesn’t mention it each time.
Sorry that you find news contrary to news you want to hear “water-carrying.” It’s a shame some people can’t deal with anyone who doesn’t expressly agree with them.

What do you think Rupert Murdoch would do with a newly launched channel FBN? duh! Did you see the report on Olbermann that showed Roger Ailes changing newspaper quotes on reviews of FBN in changing completely the tone of the review. One review to paraphrase was that FBN completely changed the face of business news and the reviewer hoped the face would change back….Ailes only used the part of the reviewer’s quote saying that FBN changed the face of business news….reflecting FBN in a positive light as if the reviewer liked the channel. This was done with a total of 3 or 4 quotes resulting in a negative review turned 180 degrees from the reviewers intent and used in FBN promotional materials. But then again it is part of the FOX Family so par for the course. It happens so often that instead of drawing shock it draws a sigh and a shake of the head.

Was that before or after Olbermann “apologized” for lying about Giuliani?
