Noose-mania?
Public Eye’s Matthew Felling takes CNN to task for emphasizing noose related stories in the run up to its “The Noose: An American Nightmare” doc…
In the wake of the Jena 6 story, all of America has seen a resurgence in images that connote intolerance – be they swastikas at George Washington University or swastikas and nooses at Columbia University. And it’s a trend that’s worth keeping an eye on, to be sure.
But when one network makes it a priority item – while it doesn’t merit a mere mention on the competition, mind you – in the day before it airs a special on the issue, that’s when you start to wonder who is making the news decisions.
If CNN wants to make sure viewers know about the special tonight, more power to them and I hope people watch. But isn’t that what commercials are for?
(Particularly when CNN mentioned its July YouTube Debate on-air 117 times in the day leading up to it.)

I think Cnn has a fixation with race, quite frankly. If one was to watch their network day after day, they’d walk around listening to every word and watching every action of their fellow man, wondering, “was that racist, are they a bigot”, and on and on. Why don’t they center on something positive, like how many people in this nation co-exist perfectly without having race on the brain 24 hours a day? Cnn needs some new material.

CNN is like the boy who cried “wolf”..How many more negative specials will they produce before the viewers refuse to come?

It really illustrates how liberal CNN has become. Every lib I’ve ever known is obsessed with race and sees a klansman behind every tree (except for Robert Byrd, of course).

They’re trying to make a story out of nothing. Kids playing pranks is not a crisis.

CNN is utterly shameless. First they use the California fires to promote “Planet in Peril” and now they’re upping their coverage of nooses?

Since Fox and their viewers want to pretend that racism is dead and buried, I’m glad to see CNN continue to focus on this subject. If someone puts a noose anywhere near me or my property, I wouldn’t be inclined to view it as a “prank”.

Doesn’t surprise me to see so many FNC jump in to bash CNN for covering the noose stories and tonight’s SIU. Once again , as with PIP before it even aired. Speaking of PIP where were all the FNC viewers on the Hannity& Colmes thread Spud posted last night? Pretty quiet from that group.Wonder why?:)

CNN = Completely Negative Network

A noose? Saddam was the last person I remember being hanged and I don’t believe it was race related. CNN is trying to make their own story. I doubt young people today understand the history of the noose because it is so far behind us, at least in the South were I live it is!

Damn race monger, in the mold of Sharpton and Jackson. That story has been overblown, and should have been ignored. We know the real story, and CNN must be either desperate or, in the words of the late Spiro Agnew, just a nattering nabob of negativism.

CNN is trying to start race problems with all the talk about ropes and nooses.
CNN has turned into the race baiter that they supposedly go after.
This was a well respected news channel with a lot of strength. Now Larry King is the only thing worth a look. What a shame. A downward spiral has gone on for about nine months. The whole mess needs a big shake-up.

CNN takes it orders from move on, so what do you expect. They were a good news source but now have a left wing agenda. They believe that all Americans are bad and everything we do is wrong, just listen to that left wing hack Jack K.

Seems to me that CNN doesn’t have to “start” anything. The racial problems are obviously already there, hence the need to discuss them in this special.

Every White person is a little racist against black people, and vice versa. Everyone’s a little bit racist.
Still, I swear CNN seems to be trying to get big ratings over exploiting race. It sickens me.

I saw most of American Morning on Cnn today, and to me it looked and sounded like one big infomercial for Kyra Phillips special, which aired tonight, called “The Noose, An American Nightmare”. Every other story that Chetry and Roberts introduced was about a noose, Dog Chapman’s telephone rant or racial inequality in the criminal justice system. They would string together several of these in a row during today’s broadcast. Racial issues are important, but for goodness sakes, the way they were hawking this special this morning you would think we had made no progress at all in race relations. Very opportunistic and tacky on Cnn’s part. Too bad Cnn doesn’t have the airtime for good stories about race relations in this country. That network spends way too much time on doom, gloom and failure. No wonder their ratings are in the toilet.

This is from an old movie… “You supply the pictures,I’ll supply the war” .I think CNN would love to cover a Race war in America ,thay missed the “Burn Baby Burn” days of the 60’s .CNN Will one day put that Noose around its own neck we can only hope its soon.
