O’Reilly vs. Olbermann: Ratings…

As it is a slow news day and since I haven’t done anything on the Olbermann/O’Reilly feud in quite a while, TVByTheNumbers.com is keeping a running scorecard for the ratings for the two programs…

  1. No contest as usual. Blabberman is all bluster, and nothing more. He ought to exit the door. An embarrassment except to his equally loony myrnidons.

  2. As usual…without another DNC MSNBC production..i.e.: a Dem’s debate….”Countdown” remains “down”….

You know, if conservative thought is as unpopular as the mainstream media insists it is, why DOES FNC kick ass?

Yes, I know….the libs are split between CNN, MSNBC, and a few tossed off to HLN…but FNC is so strong, it kinda makes you wonder.

The silly ideas K.O. spouts about how Fox News is basically a front for the Bush Administration {and by logical extension, the Nazi Party of the 1930’s} just exposes the ultra-liberal fear of having to debate issues with proposed solutions…..just listen to Hillary Clinton {you may wanna boost up a couple of strong lattes for this}…tax this, tax that, and all the problems just, well, disappear.

    Right.

Hear this: just because FNC dares to actually give airtime to non-liberal thought {GASP!} does not negate the basic principle that FNC presents far more liberal spokespeople than MSNBC or CNN gives opportunity to conservatives. While you can argue that Fox News is not really “fair & balanced”, MSNBC and CNN are so tilted to the left, balance is impossible…not that presenting “fair & balanced” is any part of the MSNBC/CNN agenda….

  4. You are so right. When is that baboon going to give it up.
He will never come close to BOR. He’s an embarrassment to himself and to MSNBC. This is the best they can do???

  5. “He will never come close to BOR. He’s an embarrassment to himself and to MSNBC. This is the best they can do???”
In a short answer…Yes. What i find funny, i like how the repeat…the REPEAT of Bill’s show at 11, beats Overbite’s show at 8PM…how sad is that? I love it…KO should have stayed at ESPN.

  6. Kris I don’t think Olbermann could have stayed at ESPN even if he wanted to. I’m not sure if I read this originally here or on another site, but here’s the quote about why:

But Olbermann didn’t just burn bridges since he left Bristol, Conn., he apparently obliterated them. It’s a shame he’ll miss the reunions, but ESPN says it didn’t have much of a choice.

“We didn’t want to bring him into the workplace,” said ESPN executive vice president Mark Shapiro. “The damage he could do in one day in the newsroom could put us in damage control for two years.”

  7. Spud, Thanks very much for the shout out. Just wanted to let everyone know that when Oct 31 data is available, we will also add a monthly averages chart to both our Cable News and O’Reilly vs. Olbermann series.

  8. The Fairness Doctrine for TV is coming to town to a theater near you.
Only then will KO KO BOR.

    Comment by Macjoubert — November 1, 2007 @ 3:18 pm

  9. BTW I overheard that it is very very likely KO monitors this blog and his ego will be affected by any negative comparison to BOR so added enjoyment to rub it in deep so it longer to heal.
    READ AND WEEP KO.
HEY KO! - YOUR 8pm PRIME TIME show gets HANDILY DEFEATED BY BOR - dont you have any shame? The sooner you admit defeat the easier it is on your ego. hehehe

  10. The one question that I would luv to see KO respond to-
Why do you never have guests on your show who have dissenting views (right wingers)….don’t you think it would help your ratings to see live debates….two sides to particular issues…contrarian povs?

  11. Wow, that (Hillary affiliated) media matters campaign to bring down O’Reilly last month really paid off big dividends, eh?

    Comment by RW — November 1, 2007 @ 4:20 pm

  12. Olbermann has that obnoxious loud mouth O’Reilly pulling what little hair he has left out and I love it. He even threatened to send his goon squad around to ambush MS/NBC and he also mentioned CNN if they keep on mentioning what a moron he is.
Anytime he has on anyone that is comfortable on TV on his program they show him up for the jerk that he is. This happened with Jesse Jackson and Phil Donahue had him for lunch the last time he was on.

    Comment by John B. — November 1, 2007 @ 4:59 pm

  13. Macjoubert,

What is so “fair” about the Fairness Doctrine? If more people wanted to watch Olbermann, they would do so. Are you expecting government to come in and bail him out, as is the case with NPR? NPR and its ilk would not survive in the free market; government has to come in and subsidize it because no one listens.

So please explain how this Fairness Doctrine will help Keith? Unless it forces people to sit in front of their TVs and watch him, I can’t see how it will help him (or anyone else on MSNBD) at all.

  14. And John B, at least O’Reilly invites the opposition on his program. Your hero does not.

    Comment by Missy — November 1, 2007 @ 5:59 pm

  15. “KO has BO pulling his hair out”. In Olbys dreams. Why would Bill even care about Keith. They are only compitition in Keith’s mind.

    Comment by Tom P — November 1, 2007 @ 6:07 pm

  16. If Keithie reads this blog his ego gets fed even if he gets negative vibes. He’s like Scott Peterson. Peterson is sitting in jail, yet he’s on cloud 9. Why? Because he thinks he’s important because people talk about him.

  17. #10

Because Olby is a coward and a fraud. He’s a teleprompter reader and those special comments probably takes him days to write and rewrite until he gets it right.

He can’t debate anyone because he’ll be made a fool. That’s why all he has are suck ups on his show. Imagine the ownage Coulter, Malkin, Levin, Sliwa etc… would do to him.

    Comment by Lurker — November 1, 2007 @ 8:16 pm

  18. #10
So you think he write those? I really kind of doubt it. lol. He’s not intelligent enough nor deep enough to write out those well thought out attacks.

  20. A few points….I’ll give K.O. this: friends of mine who briefly worked with the man years ago admired his writing…they did think he was an egotistic jerk, but, hell, this is TV…that can be a given within some organizations.

The Fairness Doctrine was tossed out because it cost too much advertising revenue…imagine a station being forced by FCC regulation to place 3 hours of, oh, let’s say, Air America on after three of Rush? That click in the air is the sound of thousands of radio stations being changed…
It was horrible regulation then…it’ll be worse now. And if it ever was fully, honestly instituted in TV Land…oh, God!

Keith-O has improved his numbers about as much as he can, given the weakness of his product and the fact the shows before and after are unwatchable…as Air America dies yet again with its staff of 10 and no radio ratings, liberal hate speech really only has MSNBC, which may just be completely revamped if/when G.E. sells off a badly out-performed NBC.

I still remember an “Imus In The Morning” when Jack Welch was plugging something….Imus looked around the huge MSNBC
studio in New Jersey and said, “When Jack gets here, he’ll look around and say ‘We spent how much for a 0.4?’”
