  1. The guy is too feeble minded to feel much shame or embarrassment. What a buffoon. At least he can be comforted by the fact very few people actually watch his show and saw the “apology”.

  2. I apologize for not seeing the apology.

  3. Half a point for an apology, minus half a point for effectively saying “I’m sorry but you are still wrong.”

  4. An anchor at 8pm apologising… that’s something new!

  5. I apologize, after I rip into you yet again…and oh by the way, you’re the Worst Person in the World…3 times over. Sorry about that Rudy. I’m very sincere in my apology, though. I really, really mean it. Doesn’t my sincerity just shine through?

  6. How predictable Mike. Of course, it’s not really expected for the hater crowd to know what they’re talking about.

    But here’s an example:

    (From the GLAAD website)
“On the June 21 edition of Fox News Channel’s The O’Reilly Factor, Fox News Crime Analyst Rod Wheeler detailed what he called a “national network” of so-called “lesbian gangs” that prey on young girls. Using exaggerated, sensational language, Wheeler claimed there are more than 150 such gangs in the Washington, D.C., area alone.”

Additionally GLAAD says that one of the groups Rod Wheeler labeled as a “gang,” isn’t actually a “gang” at all. O’Reilly’s team investigates, find GLAAD to be correct. He then apologizes, on air, and to help make amends… invites the GLAAD spokesperson on to discuss the issue.

That’s how you apologize! Not with a “yeah, but…” argument; that shows insincerity and a lack of respect both for the person he’s apologizing too, and the viewers who originally believed him. Oh, and notice how in the O’Reilly apology, it wasn’t even O’Reilly who made the mistake… it was a guest… and yet, he still apologized for it.
For Keith, this wasn’t an apology… it was a “you caught me.” Maybe Olbermann could have invited Rudy on the show… but then again, he doesn’t allow differing viewpoints, so I suppose not.

  7. He apologizes, but blames the AP, yet he showed the tape on his show, that had the dialog. He and Huffypuffy missed it, but the viewer didn’t. And he’s talking about the AP like no one else noticed the video he ran. This guy is the most arrogant personality I have ever seen in all my years watching TV. Unfrigginbelievable!

  8. Insincere & pathetic…and this was before he tried to correct his inacurate ‘reporting”….THIS time.

  9. Is there a more pompous human being than Keith Olbermann? The worst thing to me is not that he tried to blame this on the AP. It’s that he claimed that there were “mitigating circumstances” over what Guiliani said. Nonsense! All Olbermann had to do was listen to the tape. Anyone who can hear knew that Guiliani said “Assad” and not “Osama.” There was no gray area there.

I find it incredible that they actually played the tape on the air, and neither Olbermann nor anyone who works for him actually listened to it. Now he employs the Dan Rather “fake but true” defense. And just a few minutes earlier, he trashed Chris Wallace for being inaccurate!

  10. And I repeat, this is who MSNBC chose to moderate a debate. And still the one for political commentary after their debates.

  11. Surely you people didn’t expect Olbermann to sincerely admit he made a mistake when it concerned a GOP candidate now did you? If anything shows the sheer biases of this man and his vast arrogance, it was that half-butted “apology” which I’m sure he was arm-twisted into doing, and then his WPITW picks–all Rudy. This man has not one iota of “class” in his body and no, he doesn’t need to be moderating anything. I just don’t understand why MSNBC doesn’t rebrand him as a commentator and just drop the whole pretense that he’s running a “news” program and that he’s a “journalist”. What a joke!

  12. Now he only has 9999 apologies to go!

  13. I am a Countdown watcher, and KO ought to be ashamed over this alleged attempt of an apology/retraction. I don’t think it is appropriate to blame others while apologizing; I believe the point is to admit that an error occurred, correct the error and express regret for that error. Maybe he needs to brush up on ethics and NBC News standards and practices for how one should issue such a statement. I cannot believe he blamed AP, especially since he had the actual videotape of the event. Meager.

  14. “Ethics”.. “News standards”.. Olbermann??? There’s no such thing in his world.

    Comment by bigred — November 3, 2007 @ 1:30 pm

  15. The only term for KO’s actions is childish..instead of being a professional and admitting a mistake(which it wasn’t)he had to resort to attacking Rudy 3 more times then saying he was “sorry” but not really.

He is also a hypocrite…just how many times has KO lashed out at O’Reilly and others for making mistakes on their show?….had he been a real man and a real follower of Edward R. Murrow he would had awarded himself a WPITW and then made a real apology.

  16. Perhaps a few of Olbermann’s fans (aka defenders) are now getting a real taste of just how hypocritical and biased ole’ Keith truly is. Some of us figured that out a long ago but we certainly welcome those of you who are late to the table.

  17. He’s never had ethics. Ever. He’s always been childish and immature. Arrogance dictates those traits. The truth always comes out. Sometimes in bits and pieces, but it always comes out. That’s one of the wonderful things about time. And it’s just a matter of time before his entire truth is exposed to everyone. He will self destruct.

    Comment by StephenMartin — November 3, 2007 @ 6:21 pm

  18. Disgraceful.

Which, of course, is par for the course for KO.
