This is a strange coincedence. I just sent Tucker an email, complaining about his sign off.
He is one of my favorite anchors. I felt that he seemed to be holding all of us in low esteem. Perhaps a misread on my part.

Tucker is the only one I watch on MSNBC but the network seems to be so poorly managed, that they probably will screw him…probably to make room for Joe who will soon be out of his coffee.

Well Tucker you sold your soul to the left-wing MSNBC let them neuter your Conservative beliefs and surprise nobody wants to watch you…what a shock!!

I like Tucker.
Come to Fox Tucker!

Just noticed my spelling error! “coincidence”

Tucker is lame and has absolutely nothing to offer. I used to think he might be decent in a contributor type role.. However, now I’ve realized he just needs to hit the B R I C K S!

Tucker is fine. He’s not the strongest conservative out there, but he is very knowledgable, makes his points well and his very entertaining.
Re: problems with his show? A few months ago, he alluded to the fact that he may be cancelled, stating that it could happen “sooner rather than later”, and most likely more “sooner”.

I want Tucker back on late nights. The drinking game was great.

#3 - If you watch the show, you would know that MSNBC never “neutered his Conservative beliefs.” He bashes Hillary Clinton and the Democratic Congress at every chance he gets.
I’ve always enjoyed Tucker’s show because he has a good panel of guests (who don’t talk over one another like the free-for-alls on Hannity and Colmes) and he’ll take issue with Republicans when he disagrees.
Just to note in regards to the topic - I’ve heard Tucker reference his low viewership a few times with a sarcastic “we’ll leave that up to the dozen or so people watching” or something like that.
I’d hate to see his show cancelled but outside of moving to another timeslot I don’t think there is much else they can do to boost the ratings. Hopefully they will keep him around for the election cycle.

The ships sinking Tucker get off.
Comment by SHANE — November 2, 2007 @ 9:50 pm
The 6 p.m. time slot is the worst for Tucker, because there’s so much other good programming for conservatives on at the same time (Brit Hume, Cramer and Lou Dobbs).
But maybe Tucker’s ratings will pick up now that Dobbs is moving to 7 p.m. ET, and Hume’s program rerunning 2 or 3 times overnight. I will certainly be watch Tucker at 6 p.m. starting next week.

#10, I ditto that comment, pack it up you should have higher visablity, and it ain’t going to happen on MSNBC. Pack it up, HLN needs help, they are chasing ratings with Glenn Beck. Btw all, Tucker leans toward Libertarian.

Tucker needs a side-kick like Ed McManon,he just needs something to work with .I don’t want to say this guy is Dry but he could walk into a Rain forest and suck-up all the moisture.Tucker, break a Leg!
Comment by mike — November 2, 2007 @ 10:26 pm
mike, he had a great sidekick (Willie Geist), who was stolen by the Morning Joe program. Too bad; Tucker and Willie were great together.
Comment by Missy — November 2, 2007 @ 11:10 pm
Tucker has made no secret that he doesn’t like the way he is being forced by upper management to do certain segments on his program each night. He doesn’t have as much control over his show as he would like, so of course he is unhappy. CNN started doing what MSNBC is doing, and he eventually left CNN… so if he is unhappy, it’s likely that he will eventually leave on his own… even if MSNBC tries to give him a new contract, but either way, I am sure MSNBC would rather just add an extra hour of “Doc Block” in his place anyway…
Comment by Nobody — November 2, 2007 @ 11:28 pm
Honestly, MSNBC has seeing some improvement in ratings, though they aren’t by far number one and aren’t by far improving in the mornings via. Morning Joe.
Still, I agree completely with #9 just plain to the point that the program looks good (I’m a sucker for good graphics), his panels are interesting but not “I’m gonna cut your head off” like some of the scum on H&C (who’s the guy with the French hat anyway?), and the program ends with a light ending that’s kinda reminiscent of the “G Block” just due to the point the rest of the program is serious and the end is a little fruity review.
Overall, MSNBC has a decent program here, in addition to Abrams Live, but they just need to get a better time slot for Tucker, maybe switch his program to 4 PM PT, though I’d run less a chance of watching since I’m an FR regular.

“Come to Fox Tucker!”
Tucker actually was with Fox early on. Before he went to CNN, he was a regular panelist on Fox News Sunday — and, if memory serves, contributed to other shows as well — and he was great. He never should have left.
Comment by David — November 3, 2007 @ 12:13 am
#15 - I wouldn’t fault Carlson for leaving if he is unhappy with the way management controls the show. Actually, I think the show is far better than when it premiered. But the question becomes where does he go where he would have his own show? Fox is a possibility, but their roster is full.
Personally I would like to see a time shift away from the 6pm slot. He obviously can’t compete at that hour, but he has the talent to be compeditive at perhaps the 7pm or 9pm position. MSNBC would be making a mistake letting Carlson go, in my opinion.
Comment by FishOil — November 3, 2007 @ 12:44 am
Maybe Tucker should break out those dancing shoes again.
His show is a drag.
……..
Comment by JAB — November 3, 2007 @ 12:49 am
Tucker would not be competitive at 7 with Dobbs moving…
Plus on occasion tucker blasts fox, so him going there is unlikely. HE is doomed to have a sucky job forever.

Number 17,
Are you saying that Tucker was a panelist on FNS when Tony Snow was the host???
Geeze! How could I have missed that?
Tell me everything!!
Comment by Cella — November 3, 2007 @ 9:10 am
Cella: “Are you saying that Tucker was a panelist on FNS when Tony Snow was the host???”
Indeed he was — he wasn’t on every week (there weren’t any regular panelists back then other than Brit), but he was on most of the time. He didn’t agree with everything the GOP did then (just as he doesn’t now), but he always had something interesting to say.
Obviously I can understand why he left — getting your own show is a big incentive — but I always thought that he fit in much better at Fox.
Comment by David — November 3, 2007 @ 12:33 pm
Oh, I could faint. The only thing that could have made that better would have been for P.J. O’Rourke to be on the panel, too.
I lived for a time in an area that didn’t get FOX!
Do you suppose there is any video lying around?
Comment by Cella — November 3, 2007 @ 1:17 pm
Outside of Fox itself, I doubt it. Video on the Internet wasn’t big back then, so unless someone happens to have an old tape of FNS sitting around and converts it, you’re probably out of luck unless you want to order tapes yourself (I believe that service is still available).
I taped FNS every week back then because our local Fox affiliate initially ran it at some ungodly hour like 2 am the following Monday, but I didn’t keep any of them.

I was Tucker all the time and I wasn’t surprised by this sign off. I was more surprised that I didn’t get to see my “In Other News” yesterday. I think Tucker is the best host on TV. He always points out his views, and the opposing views very well and he is not afraid to point out when he is wrong.
Comment by Aaron — November 3, 2007 @ 3:19 pm
Thanks for the tips, David.

Tucker Carlson is just another son of privilege. Got his way through the door by family contacts and influence and not intellect nor point of view. No talent, therefore, no interest on the part of the viewing public. Goodbye Tucker and go count your money.
Comment by Jim D — November 4, 2007 @ 6:46 pm
When you keep having low life morons like Ed Schultz on as guests what does he expect?
Tucker, quit having the left wingers as your guests. People DON”T want to listen to their constant bitching!
Comment by jane — November 5, 2007 @ 9:27 am
I think MSNBC is picking Tucker’s guest list, I think that is the reason for the lack of viewership if you constantly preach the same liberal political idealogy, a non stop drone, then MSNBC shouldn’t be suprized people turn the channel. This is why Chris Matthews has on Ann Coulter, he knows people will tune in- eyeballs on him. Tucker probably has a better idea for guests then the Network, he just doesn’t have the control. There are many of us that don’t watch MSNBC anymore because of how they handled Imus last April. Imus left and took his audience with him. I do wish Tucker all the best, I can understand Tucker’s frustration, I would want to be on a Network, that gets watched, at least let him try and control his own program’s format-guest, to attract more viewers.
