Oooh, do I get to be the first one to say it?
Not Hot: Half-hearted apologies, based on shoddy reporting.
Comment by ImNotBlue — November 3, 2007 @ 1:41 pm
What’s not:
Apologizing for misquoting a politician, then within minutes, claiming he is the Worst Worst Worst (3-times) Person in the World.
Comment by Missouri Show Me — November 3, 2007 @ 1:53 pm
What’s not: Hillary Clinton
Comment by SHANE — November 3, 2007 @ 3:52 pm
Hot: Tucker Carlson for the stir he has created. Everyone’s talking about him.
Not Hot: Leon Harris, who continues to be the worst anchor on television. How does he keep his job?
Comment by Cella — November 3, 2007 @ 5:28 pm
How does Leon Harris relate to cable news? Hes in DC… If you’re going to bash without merit, get it right at least.
Comment by Jordan — November 3, 2007 @ 7:09 pm
HOT:the new fox daytime line up. Glad to see FNL come to an end.
NOT- KO
Comment by craig gordon — November 3, 2007 @ 8:25 pm
Not Hot:I know I am in the minority but I cannot stand Fox’s weekday daytime lineup. Bill Hemmer and Megan Kelly are just too silly for words. Megan K acts like a silly teenager and Bill Hemmer just has that wide-eyed, what the heck’s going on look. Then Alysyn Camerota was on and I hope it was replacing someone last week cause she is not a good reporter in my humble opinion. I am probably the only person on the planet who can’t stand E. D. Hill but I just can’t.
Not Hot: Chris Matthews and his big mouth.
Hot: Brit Hume’s news hour.
Red Eye on at 9:00 CST. I am addicted to it.
Comment by sophia — November 3, 2007 @ 9:25 pm
HOT: New Fox Lineup. Wish they would have some preview images though. Anyone know any juicy details?
HOT: Tucker’s sign off. Created big stir.
NOT: KO’s “apology”
Comment by jmkaib — November 3, 2007 @ 9:30 pm
Hot: Bashing moderators when you bomb during a live debate.
Not: Getting a story completely wrong, taking 3 days before you finally issue an apology, blaming others for your mistake, and then calling the person you slandered the Worse, Worser and Worst Person in the World. Pure class over at MSDNC.
Comment by bigred — November 3, 2007 @ 9:35 pm
Hot: Tim Russert for having the guts to challenge Hillary Clinton even if it means her supporters want him shot..
Not: KO for first lying about Rudy and then for not having the b#lls to just come out and apologize without taking cheapshots.
Comment by mlong — November 3, 2007 @ 10:00 pm
Jordon,
You are right! I meant Tony Harris.
And, you know what? Tonight I watched a few minutes of Tony again and he wasn’t as bad as I had remembered.
I am up a creek without a paddle!
Comment by Cella — November 3, 2007 @ 10:15 pm
Hot: Tucker Carlson
A news host finally admits his ratings are not so great instead of spinning the ratings. Tucker has the best ratings for women Age 75+ who don’t know what channel “Wheel” is on.
Hot: Brian Williams on SNL! I heard if he does well, we might see Charles Gibson on “Dancing With The Stars”
Comment by Matt — November 3, 2007 @ 10:22 pm
Hot: Brian Williams on SNL
Not: “Happening Now” on FOX News. Can they come up with show names not based off a slogan? Is “Fair and Balanced w/ add blonde here” the next show up?
Comment by Mike Beckham — November 3, 2007 @ 10:28 pm
Hot: O’reilly had a damn good week.
Not Hot: Factually challenged News. No not Olbermann although he does belong there, I’m talking Fox and their lies stating that that the Veterans Affairs Committee banned the flag folding ceremony. Multiple times they did a report over the course of a couple days about this make believe banning and when all was said and done, it wasn’t true.
Fox still hasn’t apologized half heartedly or not.
Comment by Steve — November 3, 2007 @ 10:34 pm
Steve… that was a real story. Perhaps you misheard what they were talking about. It was the recitation, that was the problem. Either way, it was discussed and debated. That’s how it works.
Comment by ImNotBlue — November 3, 2007 @ 10:48 pm
NOT HOT - Three of the guests on Friday’s Fox & Friends … Al Sharpton, Jerry Riviera and Kimberly Guilfoyle … That show made me want to vomit …
NOT HOT - FNC’s Bill Shine playing musical chairs with the hosts on “Fox & Friends Weekend” … Keep it Page Hopkins, Kelly Wright, Greg Kelly and Rick Reichmuth … Do NOT let the blonde trio of Suzanne Sena, Ainsley Earhardt & Courtney Friel anywhere near the show …
Comment by Tiamat — November 3, 2007 @ 11:48 pm
Still NOT Hot: Still, apparently, no room for Uma Pemmaraju. As far as the revamped weekday FNC daytime lineup is concerned, the are no show’s with Uma’s name on the title. Fans of Patti Ann Browne should also be very concerned.
Comment by Bob — November 4, 2007 @ 12:23 am
Hot:
Maybe my memory is shot from this week, but I can’t think of anything really, except for the name change for Robin’s show is actually official instead of some online gossip. If I can think of anything, I guess I’ll return.
Not:
FNC Overall - Maybe I am just a little tired of the format, but honestly, their daytime programming and mornings are dominately awful not and don’t really show much of any signs of improvement. Shepard seems tired and his format has gone down the drain. Also, to top it all off, the network has taken another chapter out of CNN’s book with this “Happening Now” program, which kinda sounds a little bit like the early version of TSR, not to mention the network’s original gimic of “The Live Desk.”
Overall honestly, I know this won’t make the cut, but I am tired of FNC honestly and pretty much find myself watching CNN more often than not now when I’m watching news. I mean, Newsroom is ten-fold better than AN in the morning since I am looking for actual news, American Morning isn’t great but withstandable, Anderson is usually a good bet even if Soledad is filling in, and she isn’t a bad host at all.
Overall, FNC may lose me as a viewer overall, though I’ll probably be suckered into watching FR daily, and usually tuning into H&C. O’Reilly, and Special for a few minutes usually.
Comment by Chris (clind) — November 4, 2007 @ 12:23 am
I agree about Daytime. It’s a bit of a mess, especially Studio B - which used to be a good show.
Comment by Mike Beckham — November 4, 2007 @ 12:31 am
Mike, you must not have heard that FNC is coming out with a brand new weekend show, “We Report, You Decide” with Courtney Friel.
Comment by Matt — November 4, 2007 @ 12:31 am
Hot:
- Rachel Marsden, for not vanishing altogether after her uncerimonious departure from Fox and appearing on CNN’s The Situation Room to debate Jack Cafferty on waterboarding and torture. She has a shot at redemption and staying relevant.
- Lou Dobbs. No matter which side of the debate people are on, he got a fair deal of publicity by going after Governor Spitzer of New York over the issue of drivers licenses for illegal immigrants. The topic was also in the spotlight after the Democratic debate.
- MSNBC’s Democratic Debate. Although not a leader in the ratings, the best showing to date, especially after the disasterous ratings the AFL/CIO Debate hosted by Olbermann this summer. Word to the wise to MSNBC - stick with Russert and/or Brian Williams now that we are getting close to the Iowa caucus and let the earlier debates be the domain of the B team (Matthews, Olbermann).
Not:
- Morning Joe. The show has seemed to failed to build an audience since Labor Day and the news digs and interation with NBC staples like Al Roker at 30 Rock don’t seem to be helping out.
- Fox News political analyst Dick Morris for losing his cool on Hannity and Colmes after Colmes correctly pointed out that he is clearly biased against Hillary Clinton and has been wrong in his predictions regarding her Senate runs. Morris told Colmes “I didn’t come here to be attacked” and got overly defensive and looked real bad. Reminiscent of the time Ann Coulter lost her composure and walked off from her satellite feed.
- Keith Olbermann for his back-handed apology for getting the facts wrong regarding Rudy Giuliani and then proceeding to slam him 3 times in the “worst person” segment. If O’Reilly had done the exact same thing, Olbermann would have had a lot to say against O’Reilly for having done so. Not that he hasn’t been able to claim taking the high road for a long time now, but Olbermann sunk to a new low. I still would grant him that he sometimes makes valid points, but he is as obsessed with bashing the President and Republicans as O’Reilly is with “far-left” bloggers and the “War” on Christmas.
Comment by FishOil — November 4, 2007 @ 1:56 am
HOT - Red Eye getting an early Saturday night timeslot. Hopefully this will bring in some new viewers for the best show on cable news.
NOT - Olbermann. His far-left “newscast” is so far from reality that he doesn’t even recognize the facts when he plays a video on his own show.
Comment by TBDave — November 4, 2007 @ 4:17 am
mike cracks me up. a newscast isn’t suppose to be a ’show’. but look at what channel we’re talking about. anyw
Comment by ME — November 4, 2007 @ 9:25 am
Hot - MSNBC Democratic Debate, Brian Williams on SNL, higher ratings recently for Rick Sanchez and BOR.
Not - KO’s abusive (and lame) non-apology for which MSNBC should now apologize. I am really disappointed.
Comment by Goldfish — November 4, 2007 @ 9:57 am
NOT HOT: I may be in the minority here but several others have expressed opinions on this and that is the Fox weekday lineup. Starting with F&F, particularly Steve Doosy. What a silly idiot he is. Then there is Alysyn Camerota mugging for the camera trying to get face time during the whole endless hour she is on. Also, cannot watch insipid Bill Hemmer and high school cheerleader Megyn Kelly. They act so silly it is just impossible to watch. Megyn Kelly acts like she is 16 years old and Bill Hemmer just has that “what day is it” wide-eyed look all the time. This has got to be the worst show on daytime. I find myself watching and enjoying HLN in the morning without all that silly talk and I am no over-the-hill granny. Shepard Smith does look tired and I am watching Glen Beck more and more.
HOT: Red Eye on Saturday at 9:00 CST so I can at least see it once a week. I know, I know, you have to have a sick sense of humor for it and I plead guilty.
Tim Russert for his guts.
Last but not least - finally a commercial I could watch over and over - have you seen it? The ones with the babies laughing and I find myself smiling so big. How cute is that?
Nothing else moves me right now.
Comment by sophia — November 4, 2007 @ 11:11 am
HOT: FOX on Fire … literally. Between the fire alarm on Sheps show a couple weeks ago, to the fire warden on E.D. Hill’s show a couple of days ago, and just yesterday a real fire in the basement. What will happen tomorrow.. and will we ever get to meet the “fire warden”?
Comment by Nobody — November 4, 2007 @ 11:55 am
HOT: / NOT: Nothing, really. A few rating spikes, gaffes by anchors/commentators, half-hearted apologies, inadequate talent — nothing out of the ordinary here. A very bland week in cable news.

HOT: Red Eye - hilarious
NOT: Studio B - this show has just gone completely downhill since Skinner left. Has this “Jessica” got something to do with it?
Comment by Paul Tomlinson — November 4, 2007 @ 3:38 pm
I disagree with Sophia. America’s Newsroom has made a complete turn-around. At first there was absolutely no chemistry; now Hemmer and Kelly have the most/best chemistry of any morning duo or trio on cable news.
Comment by erljr — November 4, 2007 @ 4:40 pm
Paul, I believe “Jessica” has been part of the program for a long long long time since I have an ancient recording from around Christmas ‘05 and I believe they mention her. Probably a director behind the scenes or something.
Comment by Chris (clind) — November 4, 2007 @ 5:27 pm
Jessica has been Shep’s producer on Studio B for years. I believe she also works on Hannity & Colmes, or maybe O’Reilly, I can’t recall for sure. but I remember them talking about it once way back when Skinnerville still existed.
Comment by OverHere — November 4, 2007 @ 6:53 pm
Yeah, Jessica is the floor manager for both Studio B and the Factor.

Eliot Spitzer and Hillary Clinton hand in hand, apparently for votes or voters? Get your New York Drivers licenses here.
Real Hot- Pakistan, how long before the lid blows off the whole country?
Hillary’s chinese laundry money!!! where did that story go?

The employee that turned in his criminal coworker obviously did the right thing. Now his boss is attempting, to clean up her act, for not turning in this criminal herself, by fabricating poor work performance, by her law abiding employeee. I’ve watched numerous supervisors retaliate against a good employee using these same tactics.
