Fisking Keith Olbermann…

Radar Online’s John Cook fisks Keith Olbermann regarding his Special Comment on Waterboarding…

According to the ABC News report Olbermann cited, Levin did not decide that waterboarding by the U.S. is torture; he just thought we were doing it wrong. “Levin, who refused to comment for this story, concluded waterboarding could be illegal torture unless performed in a highly limited way and with close supervision,” wrote ABC News’s Jan Crawford Greenburg and Ariane de Vogue (emphasis added). “And, sources told ABC News, he believed the Bush Administration had failed to offer clear guidelines for its use.” In other words, the man whom Olbermann believes “should have a statue in his honor in Washington right now” for making a liar of Bush about torture apparently thinks that, in principle, waterboarding is perfectly legal.

Which makes him any different from Dick Cheney how, exactly?

  1. Expect a WPITW nomination to Radar for dare suggesting that Olbermann got his facts wrong (again) about something. Now the real question, will Olbermann admit that he was wrong? Yeah, it’s cold outside, but not that cold yet.

  2. So for a second week in a row KO lies about what someone said…even though it was very well documented what they really said…truly KO is following in the footsteps of Edward R. Murrow….NOT!!!!

  3. Can someone tell me what the reference for the term ‘fisking’ is. It should be obvious, but not to moi.

  4. Gee, what a shock KO got something wrong. He cuts and pastes MediaMatters and Kos for his show, and he rushed the Special Comment to the air to counteract his “apology”, the facts be damned.

But, sadly, it doesn’t matter. The kool aid drinkers watch his show and believe all of the deranged lunacy he spews. And if somebody debunks his claims, that person gets attacked.

I too expect a WPITW or at least a jab at Radar, which is not exactly friendly to BOR or FNC.

  5. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fisking

A point-by-point refutation of a blog entry or (especially) news story. A really stylish fisking is witty, logical, sarcastic and ruthlessly factual; flaming or handwaving is considered poor form. Named after Robert Fisk, a British journalist who was a frequent early target of such treatment.[2]

  6. No, no, one half-assed apology in a month is the most we can expect from Olbermoron. The Radar article will be completely ignored. Anyone wanna take bets on that one?
