ICN in NYC: MSNBC…

The first thing you notice when you get off on the 3rd Floor at 30 Rock is the Iraq War display case in the center of the elevator room. It’s an interesting sight in the middle of the hub of NBC News. When you get to the newsroom you can see that all the talk of integration between NBC and MSNBC was not just idle boasting. It really has been implemented to a degree far more intricate than I had thought possible, and I was skeptical going into 30 Rock today. Not anymore.

MSNBC’s new digs are as impressive as they look. Watching parts of today’s 2pm ET newscast, I’m amazed at just how precise everything flows. The changovers from one set orienation to another run like clockwork. I’ll have more photos when I get back home.

Correction: The display in the center of the elevator room is not just about the Iraq war. It is a tribute to the NBC News personel who died in conflict zones while on assignment. I had misunderstood the description when it was originally told me so apologies to NBC.

Off to MSNBC this afternoon. But first I have to swing by the New York Times and do away with Brian Stelter before his Mediabistro non-compete runs out and he starts burying the rest of us again.
