What’s hot/What’s not: 11/25/07

It was a slow news week with the Thanksgiving holidays but here’s this week’s What’s hot/What’s not…

What’s hot:

Shepard Smith - Smith signed a mega million dollar contract with FNC this week rumored to be between 7-8 million a year.

What’s not:

Nothing made my cut this week…

  1. I will say again there was one other hot itemthis week: the uncharacteristic behavior of Bill O’Reilly and The O’Reilly Factor:
First, O’Reilly always responds to criticism immediately; this time he didn’t.
Second, the Factor featured O’Reilly’s Gitmo and Iraq trips immediately following his return. He even called in from Gitmo while he was still there. This time they drug it out for a week; but ran promos all week; and O’Reilly has remained silent. Was this a strategy for ratings? Or was it dragged out just because of the holiday?

  2. I think the only reason he didn’t respond right away, is because he was out of the country the whole time. I’m sure he’ll talk about it on Monday.

Besides, this was a minor story… compared to some of the other recent O’Reilly slams. He’s gonna put up the same list I put up earlier this week, say: “See… what did I tell you? Tom Arnold? Famous? Come on.” Nobody really important has picked up this story, so he’s in no rush to prove them wrong.

  3. Because BOR is in Afghanistan and it was Thanksgiving. That whole week was mostly with subs and repeats. BOR will be on F&F tomorrow and he will have the USO on too. That’s from the promo’s I saw. No big deal.

  4. Yeah. The story never flared up enough this week to merit notation. And, yeah, I did think about it.

  5. FNC has been promoting since Saturday night that Bill was doing a segment on the USO Monday and somone from the USO would be there to respond.

  6. I think it is good that the USO and Bill will have a nice conversation/debate. Intelligent, civilized debate (although sometimes contentious) is what you get most of the time on the Factor.

  7. On today’s afternoon Fox News Live, while they were discussing the Stacy Peterson case, did anyone notice Jeanine Pirro making silly faces at the camera?

  8. Yes, I noticed. And I sent it to Dan Abrams for “Beat the Press”. It was incredible. She thought she was off camera.
    Unbelievable.
She, like Courtney, is getting way too much camera time!

  9. I honestly believe that Pirro didn’t realize she was still on-camera and thought she was just having fun with someone on the set. I don’t know her personally, but from everything I do know about her (she’s been in the news here many times over the years), she wouldn’t knowingly do that - especially with such a serious story.

  10. Ha ha, I’ve got to see this. Who has the video?

You’re right, Cella. I remember some time ago where during the course of a week she appeared on nearly every show on the channel. Even Your World! Does she live in that little secret apartment in the News Corp building or what?

  11. SuperNoxic,
I don’t know where you might see the video.
The Abrams crew has a way of getting these video clips.(I am clueless!)
You just send them the exact time and channel where you saw it and they can decide to use it or not.
They used one other that I sent months ago.
Good Luck! I hope you can find it. You Tube????

  12. I saw Pirro labeled as Fox News Analyst on one of the shows yesterday. Looks like shes works for FNC now instead of just being a guest etc…

  13. I thought Pirro had been working for FNC for a while now. Are you sure that’s a new development?
