Looks like Dan finally decided to hold on to KO’s lead in, though he could have been aided by people not giving a hoot about CNN’s heroes thing.

CNN Heroes was outstanding. I’m disappointed more people didn’t tune in .It’s their loss because it was a truly inspirational tribute.

I guess Klien must have seen those HORRID ratings before he made this comment to TVN today:
“Klein says Heroes will be a winner no matter what the ratings are.”
The awards show was good, but I can see why no one would want to watch — it was LONGGGG and kinda boring at times to. It would have been better suited for a weekend airing or something. Friday’s ratings are going to be a disaster, considering this program is being re-run the day after.

Klein is right with that comment. “Heroes” was an excellent program, the people honored and their stories were amazing. It’s unfortunate that most viewers choose to tune into junk shows like what MSNBC airs. I hope CNN continues to do programs like “Heroes” regardless of the ratings.

Come on Spud, be fair - why such a “leading” negative for HEROS? Awards programs skew old. It beat Deal in 2+ at 9PM and beat everything except FOX News at 10PM and 11PM in both 2+ and Adults 25-54 - you can use the average against the whole time period block as well as look at the program hour by hour - which was not supplied.
At 9PM - with Dan Abrams, well there are some people who want to watch the Holloway case arrest release instead of average people being heros. Their choice. But this program was not about ratings, no cable news channel would devote 2 and 1/2 hours of prime time knowing full well the ratings would not be strong, if they were after ratings. It was the first time for the broadcast and all awards programs need to build each year for viewership and celeb participation. Regardless of the underlying agenda, it was well produced, spotlighted some “good” that is being done around the world; and during a strike that has put the industry in the tank, I was surprised at the talent they were able to get. Also it is not easy in December with all of us in the industry being “wooed” every which way with talent appearances, film screenings with Q&A’s with actors and receptions so we can see and vote on films before the Christmas break to get anyone to leave LA.

Is it possible to get hour by hours for the 9 to 11 for Heroes?

Well, and also if I average on a straight time period basis, 9PM-12MD all channels, HEROS beats everyone except Fox News. Any way one looks at the program, there are some very strong positives. And, it is fair to average blocks of time periods, just not usually done by this researcher as the programming varies so greatly. But if one wants to look at 9P-12MD, one can in television ratings research.
9P-12MD, Adults 25-54:
CNN: 197,000
MSNBC: 178,000
CNBC: 129,000
HN: 89,000
Same holds true for 2+ also. In fairness, CNN did well in production and the ratings.

Me… I’d like to see your evidence. I’d hate to think it’s your paranoia that’s inspiring these claims.

#8 Since HEROS was what we call “coded” as a full program, Nielsen would not issue an hour by hour. When a program is coded as one continuous program, it is considered in the ratings the average over the full block of time. Internally, yes, any Nielsen subscriber can pull a run of hour by hour, (or 15 minute by 15 minute) but there would be really no reason it issue it that way as it is considered one full program. CNN coded it a full program, because it was, so the same ratings would come up in each hour. It was rated for the full airing including its overrun. One can do a special run, but I just don’t think it is a program the other channels would necessarily go to all that time and effort to issue negative statements.
It’s a pretty strong number considering how long it aired.
