Jon Klein is the Steve Jobs of television news.
He reels you in with awesome technology. If you
play Warcraft, Halo or Gothic, this is right up
your alley, lets say millennials. CNN is mixing
OL School with new school(virtal world). WII come
to play Guitar Hero.

If Anderson held it flat it would have worked better but he kept holding it at an angle which skewed the graphics so badly you couldn't read it. As with all things computer, it's the idiot operating the equipment that malfunctioned not the equipment.

Seemed gratuitous to be talking to the analysts while trying to use the graphic thing at the same time. The pie charts were on the big wall anyway, so they should have just cut to the ginormous wall anyway.

Totally agree with the "look how cool we are" comment.

I saw it used once, and it didn't work very well. Cooper finally gave up and set the graphic card down; the pie chart then covered the panelists. Might be good, but it still needs work, both technically and in how it's used.

I didn't see this in use so maybe I'm missing something, but just by looking at the stills above I'm left wondering what this really adds to the coverage. It seems like gratuitous use of "look how cool we are" technology just for the sake of showing off the latest toy.

I'm impressed that CNN is incorporating a cutting edge technology like augmented reality into such an important event like the Iowa Caucus. Anderson Cooper looked like he was having fun waving around the 3D pie charts. I hope CNN continues to find innovative uses for new technologies. I have been working with Augmented Reality using AMIRE and have been showing everyone how cool it is. My wife thinks I was crazy for playing around with such a system, but since we are both CNN junkies, I was vindicated tonight and she saw a practical application for it. Thank You CNN! (For providing the best election coverage and by helping me to appear a little less crazy)
