Jenna Lee and Courtney Friel spin for charity…

Jenna Lee of FOX Business Network and Courtney Friel of Fox News Channel lead a spinning class last Friday for the New York Sports Clubs and Snapple’s “Saints & Spinners” charity event.
The event was a 24-hour spin-a-thon at Grand Central Terminal in New York, and Jenna and Courtney led the 4:00 PM Friday class.

Why don’t they spin to get us out of this disasterous Iraq war that is killing thousands of innocent American soilders and over 655,000 innocent Iraqis?

so the first blue blogger emerges, i dont like fox news as much as you “paco” but this bloged story has nothing to do with “spinning the iraq war”

Paco… let’s do a little quick math, shall we?
Let’s assume US action in the Middle East began on September 11, 2001. That’s not accurate, it was well after that, but we can assume because it doesn’t really matter for this exercise.
Assuming that, we’ve been involved militarily for 6 years and 5 months… 77 months.
Now, you say that “655,000 innocent Iraqis”… and while I could take issue with exactly who determined who was innocent… but again, that doesn’t matter.
So, using those figures… that means in the approx. 6.4 months we’ve been involved, about 102,343.75 Iraqi’s died per year –OR– 8,506.5 Iraqi’s died per month –OR—1,968 Iraqi’s died per week –OR—281 IRAQI’S PER DAY!
Now, let’s also remember that since we used Sept 11th 2001, as our “start” date, and since that date is dramatically BEFORE the actual start date (which is most commonly thought of as March 18, 2003… 19 months after 9/11), these numbers are considerably lower than what they’d be if we used that date. But to prove just how ridiculous that number is now, and when it came out a few years ago… what’s a few extra months.
In light of all this… would you like to change your statement… or continue believing what is an obvious exaggeration and lie?
Comment by ImNotBlue — January 22, 2008 @ 10:21 pm
No… I would not like to change my statement. I would like to continue to fight for innocent American troops and innocent Iraqi men, women, and children who are being killed, blown up, and tourtured as a result of George W. Bush, Dick Cheney, and republicans lies.

Great use of math to dispel the liberal blogs myths. I’ve often wondered why the liberal blogs hardly said a word when Sadham was gassing his own people yet will willingly assail this administration and this country.
I’m not a big BOR fan but I do believe him when he states that there are some Americans who truly hate their country. Makes me scratch my head.

Paco, your inability to reason reminds me of Rosie O’Donnell. That 650,000 figure has been around for almost a year, courtesy of George Soros. Of course, it must be up to 1,000,000 by now. Maybe you should hand upside down too. If you really want to fight, use more than your mouth. You might start by using your brain.

There goes that darn keyboard again, I meant hang (perhaps a Freudian slip?).

Hey, Rich! I wonder why both sides said nothing about OUR government selling Saddam the chemical weapons he used to gas the Kurds? Oh right, Sadaam is bad and we’re patriots.

“and while I could take issue with exactly who determined who was innocent…”
You know, I don’t care if they are innocent or not. They are human beings like you and me and they deserve respect, a lawyer, and a fair trial. If they are found guilty, I am all for locking them up for the rest of their pathetic lives but thats after they are found guilty in an American courtroom… JUST the way any other American citizen would have it.

What kind of moron would want to see terrorists - maybe UBL? - arrested, hauled into court on Centre St. and then arraigned after some mugger and before some guy who knocked over a bodega on Avenue C?
If the leftists are *really* lucky, maybe the arresting officers forgot to read the Miranda rights to bin laden and he’ll get sprung! Woo hoo!

I’ve never said that our hands were clean but we sold him the weapons to fight against Iran (one day your enemy is your friend and the next day he’s your enemy). However, the call was made to support Iraq since Iran was being supported by Russia.
My argument has always been what makes some Americans hate their own country?? Some people will defend the Castros & Chavez’s of the world and if you look at their human rights records they’re absymal.
Fortunately, we live in a country where we can express out opinions unlike Cuba & Venezuala, yet we have some people defend Castro & Chavez as some sort of modern day saviors. I just don’t get it.
This is the greatest country in the history of the world and to hear some people continually demean it makes no sense.
Comment by Rich — January 23, 2008 @ 8:38 am
^ Good points, Rich. Also, Iran had become a theocracy (I think they had already taken our people hostage by then), while Iraq was still secular.

12 comments…not a one on topic…
Comment by Spud — January 23, 2008 @ 9:23 am
Rich, I love my country but will not lie and use the mask of patriotism as an excuse. Its patriotic to tell the truth and our government has a tendency to blatantly lie. And should be held accountable. So, I think its unpatriotic to NOT call the US out on lying.
“I’ve never said that our hands were clean but we sold him the weapons to fight against Iran”
Oh, so its ok for the US to sell chemical weapons to Iraq for use on Iran.. but NOT their own people? There is no difference in Iran, Iraq, Israel, Egypt, USA, Mexico, UK, whatever.. (besides of course religion and race) people are people are don’t deserve to be exposed to chemical agents supplied by the USA, eh.

back on topic its nice to see anchors do something for charity
Comment by joe — January 23, 2008 @ 9:52 am
Yes, but wouldn’t it be better if they devoted themselves to the effort of brining the troops home? Use their platform to speak out agianst the war and show people the light. They would do so much good for the world.
Comment by Paco — January 23, 2008 @ 10:18 am
paco can you atleast say something nice that fox took part in doing somthing for charity?
spud did not put anything on this bloged story about the war or even involving any politics, i sure hope the off topic comments get deleted
Comment by don — January 23, 2008 @ 12:25 pm
I figured these comments would be Friel bashing followed by Ira saying the women of ICN are catty (even though I still don’t get that reasoning). I guess one out of two ain’t bad!!
Comment by Sarah — January 23, 2008 @ 1:03 pm
Not her agent. I have a much bigger fish to fry than that :)
If it isn’t bashing, then what would you call the fact that you just cannot let her name be mentioned without saying something negative about her? For better or worse, Fox has decided to put her on the air. If you don’t like her, then turn the channel when she comes on.

Seems Courtney works hard, wants to stay at FNC and is willing to work all hours. Is it her fault she’s not the brightest person and that FNC gives her air time? I’ll just say good for her for getting the gig. I’ll just switch channels is she annoys me too much.
She annoys me when she’s on FNF cause she’s not ready for that role but I see no reason why she can’t read the prompter, she’s good at it and I have really no problems with her on FNL weekends. She doesn’t touch any of the hard news and political stuff.
Comment by Lurker — January 23, 2008 @ 10:43 pm
Spud, why did you remove some people’s comments about Friel and not others? And if you’re concerned about staying on topic, why are Paco’s anti-war posts still here?
Comment by Amused — January 23, 2008 @ 10:51 pm
Amused: Ditto from here.
