Burnett drops S-bomb?

Page Six gleefully writes about an incident involving Erin Burnett…

ERIN Burnett has a potty mouth. The CNBC hottie reported Wednesday that Apple shares were down, and noted, “It was the It Stock of ‘07, and it is apparently the s - - t stock of 2008.” CNBC flack Brian Steel later insisted to Page Six: “It was a scripted play on words - not an expletive.” It’s the second embarrassment for Burnett in three months. Back in November, she was forced to apologize after calling President Bush a “monkey.”

  1. No, wouldn’t it be the third? She was in trouble a few weeks ago about some interview she did in a magazine, something about what kind of gifts she’d want from a guy.

How many chances does this girl get?

  2. Great, now if we could just get Bush to apologize to her and the rest of the American people.

  3. I started to watch her. If she said that about the President, I am not going to watch her anymore. I’ll just watch FBN. Glad I get it.

  4. Paco, do you tie every incident in life to Bush and the war?

    Comment by Missy — January 25, 2008 @ 11:58 am

  5. Paco is frustrated that the anti-war efforts of he and his neo-hippie friends has been a massive, embarrassing flop.

  6. Since when is “shit” an okay word for a scripted “play on words”? I mean I know you can say anything you like on cable but this ain’t HBO, it’s supposed to be a business channel isn’t it? Burnett is beautiful and she appears to know her stuff but I think she’s a little full of herself.

  7. You go Paco! Tell it like it is.

  8. DONG! This has been a Nypost/News Corp inspired “swipe at the competition” story again. It looks like they’d find something “negative” to report on about FNC or FBN. Oh wait, then they’d be out of a job. Ya gotta love “corporate synergy” in the media these days. Oh, and I don’t really have a problem with mags/rags writing positive stuff about their corporate cousins.. but writing negatively about the competition reeks of ulterior motives.

  9. Where did she say this? On air? Alison is right, that word isn’t acceptable, even as a play on words.

Paco - if you are going to bash Bush, fine. At least make sense when you are doing it. Your rantings don’t give you a shred of credibility.

  10. There was an incident on Fox Biz a week or two ago but I’ll just keep it to myself hehehe

  11. I don’t know, Terance… she did drop the S-Bomb on air.

  12. ImNotBlue - Have you seen a transcript or video? Because I thought that was your “angle” when tackling things cable news anchors at FNC have said or didn’t say?? Look, show me the video or transcript then I’ll verbally spank Ms. Burnett if she deserves it. Btw, you should concede the NyPost “reports” on FNC’s competition in a negative light every chance they get.

  13. Well, I can’t deny that “Page 6″ is often used to attack NewsCorp’s “enemies.” As for not seeing the video, well, there is a quote here… a direct quote. Not a “she said something like” or a paraphrase… but a quote… so the video isn’t entirely needed.

Now unless they’ve paraphrased in a way that makes it look like a quote, in an effort to fool people, I can’t argue it too much. If anyone has a video proving them wrong, or a video of the statement in question, please provide.

  14. The NYPost probably read the story from this guy?

then he updated the story here

  16. This flack has no clue how to deal on this playing field. He’s not skilled at protecting his on-air personalities, he can’t control the media, and he just keeps getting kicked around by FBN. Good hire, CNBC!

    Comment by Ron — January 25, 2008 @ 3:55 pm

  17. Thanks, Tahno. I think Mr. Hotair summed it up pretty well. It’s obvious Erin was reading from a script seeing that her eyes peer down to the “copy” in her hand and had a somewhat strange look on her face prior to saying shhhhhhhhhh it. Now, why am I not surprised the NyPost just censored the word “shit” as if she just said it outright? Because NyPost/News Corp/FNC are smear merchants and will stop at nothing short of a lawsuit.. Oh wait, speaking of lawsuits, this quote from the Corporate cousins pretty much makes them outright liars anyway. (via Drudge)

“After carefully considering the matter, we accept Ms. Regan’s position that she did not say anything that was anti-Semitic in nature, and further believe that Ms. Regan is not anti-Semitic,” News Corp. said Friday.”
