MSNBC to air post CNN-Debate Countdown…

MSNBC announced that Keith Olbermann will be hosting a special 10pm edition of Countdown following the Democratic debate on CNN…

Keith Olbermann will anchor a special edition of “Countdown” Thursday, Jan. 31, 10-11 p.m. ET. The special live “Countdown” airs after the Democratic candidates debate in Los Angeles.

“After you watch it there, come and understand it here,” said Keith Olbermann, of what to expect from the special edition of “Countdown.”

MSNBC will also present a special 10 p.m. ET edition of “Hardball with Chris Matthews” tonight, immediately following the Republican candidates debate.

“Countdown with Keith Olbermann” telecasts weeknights, 8-9 p.m. ET on MSNBC. Izzy Povich is executive producer. “Hardball with Chris Matthews” telecasts weeknights, 5-6 p.m. ET and 7-8 p.m. ET on MSNBC. John Reiss is executive producer.

  1. This is kinda interesting — wonder if it’ll work. It kinda sucks for MSNBC that their debates haven’t drawn nearly the same amount of buzz as CNN’s have.

    If CNN wants to mess with MSNBC a bit, they should let the debate drag on past 10pm — I’m sure KO will be PO’ed he has to stay past 11pm

  2. Don’t think CNN hasn’t already planned to run the debates long. Chris Matthews handles the “live hurdles” way better than high-strung Olbermann.

  3. post #1 your a moron to say cnn should run there debate longer then expcted is just dumb, no offence but i think voters want to hear the issues at hand not have to deal with networks playing games!

  4. Yeah I guess you’re right #1, but tbh MSNBC is just capitalizing off the (expected) success of CNN’s debates — they don’t care about “analyzing” the issues for the public either ya know…
