  1. Spud,

“Hotair” you know you have Huffington Post in the blog roll and it isn’t strictly about covering cablenews. I think Michelle Malkin’s blog would offer balance.

  2. Huffington does mention quite a bit of cable news though in their media section Ree, not to mention the point that TVNewser is a mix of cable and broadcast television news.

  3. whats hot: cnn ballot bowl, the encore presentation of the debates on cnn. Whats not hot: 3 days until super tuesday

  4. Whats HOT - Dana Bash

I’ve never been a fan of Ms. Bash, but unlike most people around here, my opinion is always subject to change. With that said, Dana Bash has really impressed me hosting the bulk of this ballot bowl stuff from the field. And I think she’s really good on camera now. Imagine that.

  5. Hot:

The Hillary/Barack soap opera: They meet, they fight, they make up…

    What’s not:

The Homeless Vet advocate protest outside Fox studios, where few showed up and no one who did actually knew what O’Reilly had said.

In discussions about how well CNN does in the ratings when there is a big event (pope election, weather disasters, major debates) there seems to be no acknowledgment of FNC and MSNBC being omitted from Dish Network’s Top 100 programming package, leaving CNN as the only choice.

  6. HOT

Shepard Smith-He’s been getting a lot of airtime lately with all the election coverage and now Fox Super Sunday. Not to mention all the interviews he did this week. Keep it up and you’ll eclipse O’Reilly, Shep!

Fox Super Sunday-It’s been getting a lot of publicity and hype, so it should be considered Hot for this week. We’ll have to see if it stays in the Hot column next week however….

HLN-They beat MSNBC in the ratings in the 9am-5pm hours for the month of January.

    NOT

Britney rears her ugly head once again-She’s taken to a hospital by a motorcade, and the cable news networks are all over it….

The “protest” at FNC-This just showed that Robert Greenwald is a Grade-A Kook, and NBC wanted to get footage of it all.

  7. Hot : Jon Klein and Team CNN,for putting together
one awesome poticial package. That is catching
everyone’s attention. Looks like Team CNN will
do another debate double-header later in Feb.

Hot : Wolf Blitzer. Wolf will likely have the
top rated cable program this week beating
out the likes of Monk and Spongebob. Also
Anderson Cooper. Both he and Wolf bought
in more than 12 mil for CNN in a 2 day
time period. The episode of 360 that
followed the Dems as well as the Repubs
debate hosted by AC are likely to be in
    the top 20 as well.

Not Hot : MSNBC. For trying to crash CNN’s
    parade. There is a gentlemen’s
    agreement that events broadcast
by competiion is their moment not
    yours.Glad it backfired.

Not Hot : This blog and others for trying to
    lessen CNN’s record-breaking numbers
by trying falsely to tie MSNBC into the
same history making moments in tv news.
They are not in the same league.

    Really? Have a copy?

  9. future tv mogul, what is it that MSNBC did re: CNN? I missed it!

  10. Due to circumstances beyond my control I can’t get rid of that Huffington Post link. I would if I could. This issue goes back to when I took sole control of the blog. There’s five or six links that I can’t remove. That’s one of them.

  11. He’s referring to Countdown’s special post debate coverage on Thursday. There’s no such thing as a gentleman’s agreement on that. And I didn’t hype it. I just noted it.

If you want to cite that as taking advantage of the situation you’ll have to also include CNN’s rebroadcasting of ABC’s debate.

    Comment by Spud — February 2, 2008 @ 7:44 pm

  12. It was not just Countdown. MSNBC did it with the Repubs
debate with Hardball. Spud that’s the point exactly.
CNN aired the debates almost 24 hours of the original
debate. They also had to say every 30 minutes that it
was an ABC debate and keep the logo and not cover
it up.Name one instance in tv news when ABC,NBC,CBS,
FNC and CNN ever aired a special about a debate that
aired on another network.Yes they send reporters to
cover the debates and do packages and live shots.
But they do not do special coverage for an hour
on anothers network debate the same day. Especially
when negotiations are done to get the debates in
    the first place.

  13. HOT: It looks like Fox took off the wraps of a massive new studio this morning that they are going to use for election coverage. I like what I’ve seen of it thus far. I wonder who’s going to be using it otherwise…

    Comment by SuperNoxic — February 3, 2008 @ 11:24 am

  14. That is an awesome studio. It looks huge compared to what they’ve been using. But the color scheme…what will I’mNot Blue say? ;)

    Comment by johnny dollar — February 3, 2008 @ 5:32 pm

  15. Hmmm… I didn’t get to see it live. I was working all day… we had to prepare for this little game thing that was on tonight. The Super something… I don’t remember.

Anyway… from the picture Spud posted, it looks nice. Big, and perhaps a little busy for my liking… and of course, much too blue. But that’s okay. We can’t ALL be perfect.
