“Nose Holding” Shep knows that is a stupid question and he doesn’t have to yell at Naomi Wolf. He could have asked her the same question in different terms a la Why was it not as good to vote Clinton or Kerry?
I wish every anchor on Fox could hit the ground running like Shep does. Too much bashing of Fox gets by in the name of “fair and balanced”. When someone pushes Fox, push right back. That’s fair and balanced!
I’m glad he did that, because I’m sick and tired of these leftists going on FNC and then blatantly bashing the place. If they have no respect for the network, then they should refuse all invitations to appear on it. Very rude to accept an invitation to appear and then gratuitously attack the network that is giving them free airtime.
If anyone remembers Ms. Wolf being paid more than $10K per month 8 years ago, to teach Al Gore how to be an alpha man, well…I think she saw one today.
Come on Ian, give us those numerous examples of Shep being “unprofessional”. And please explain how he “dishes it out but can’t take it”. What does that even mean? Who does he dish it out on?
Let me guess. You don’t actually watch FOX. You’re just a liberal lemming who listens to what the bluebloggers tell you.
I thought it was funny and thought Shep might be clowning her. She should’ve went with it and said something pithy instead of acting all serious and blaming Fox which got Shep riled up.
^16: She’s a humorless harpie who made it obvious that she thinks she’s too good to appear on FNC. Wolf showed a great deal of contempt for FNC, and I hope she’s never back on there again - it’s not as if she actually adds anything to the content.
I would never have heard that snooty tone of voice from someone and thought they were trying to be funny. If that was his intention (and I don’t think it was), it was seriously open to misinterpretation.
“Snooty tone of voice?” Sounded like he always does when he goes in for the kill on a follow-up question. That’s what REAL journalists do, instead of having “yes” men and women on who echo their opinions. I was watching when this went down and I had the same question that Shep did-what candidate was she talking about re the nose smelling. When he did the follow up, she made the Fox crack that was totally unwarranted as she was the one who said what she said and all of a sudden wanted to cop an attitude about answering the question. He called her on her BS–good for him.
I have a question though-Wolfe complained about her “history” with Fox. So if she has issues with them to begin with, why in the world was she on the network to begin with?
Craig: Although I am no fan of Naomi Wolf, I actually agree with you about the fatigue. Today, Shep probably had a shorter fuse than normal.
In addition to Sheperd and the field correspondents, I was very surprised that Bill Hemmer and Megyn Kelly showed up in their usual timeslot after working deep into the night.
I can’t find anything but I seem to remember Wolf having issues with Fox or a Fox anchor before and as Allison said, she mentioned her “history.” Any ideas?
That said, the FNC excuse is tired and lame (as is Wolf)…Shep had every right to go off on her and I’m glad he did.
My My My I guess the Fox anchors cant handle the truth. A republican candidate for president that nobody cares for, stockmarket down the toilet, Bush specials that are so elementary, Latinos having a say in this election, Hillary Clinton cannot be knocked down, Rudy Guilani’s stupid campaign, Meghan Kelly giggles, Ed Hills motherly lectures,
No business news on Cavutu business news show, John Edwards good looks, I guess it is not a very good time to be connected to fox right now. I guess thats why people are foxing them now.
Art…thanks for you insight. I’m new to this whole internet thing, and didn’t know that videos were available on the internet. Can you tell me how to get the thing to play?
Any more useful information you could pass on to me would be greatly appreciated, since you’re so well informed.
Still waiting for Ian, or perhaps you, to enlighten me on who Shep dishes on…other than the gas bag who got pwned today.
Um, let’s see…he went after Drew Peterson not too long ago. He went after everyone (I think it was Susan Estrich in particular) during the NH primary a few weeks ago…he was in rare form that night! Shep is pretty equal opportunity about calling people out on the air.
did you all grow up in crazy abusive households??? she WAS answering his question and he INTERRUPTED her asking her to answer his question. if that type of authoritarian behavior is good in your book you would have loved Mussolini! how about some listening and some learning!!!

Or even easy questions!! Shep is really fast on his feet… and even sitting down.
Comment by Jim — February 6, 2008 @ 4:48 pm
I think he gets tired of some of the unwarrented bashing that Fox’s takes…
Some times the critics have valid points…but often times they dont…

She was out foxed plain and simple. Thought she could make
a quick dump on Fox but Shep said no. Rock on Shep.

Shep is unprofessional, he can dish it out but can’t take it.
Comment by Ian — February 6, 2008 @ 6:05 pm
‘Don’t you Fox on Me!’, there’s a new bumper sticker for you.
What, exactly, was Shep ‘dishing out’? It’s called asking a question, and if Wolfe can’t handle it then maybe she should move to a gentler venue.

Ian - you obviously do not watch Shepard Smith or know anything about him.

I think Shep may well be a little tired after his late night.

Ian, Shep can take it, but your problem is that he can dish it out too. A liberal no-no.

Um… Bigred? Spud posted a CLIP. Most people are reacting to that. And personally, I thought Shep acted like a spoiled prima donna.
