Coulter on McCain…

The Swamp’s Mark Silva writes about what Ann Coulter said last night on FBN’s Cavuto regarding John McCain…

Tonight, on Cavuto’s show, Coulter made a new offer: “If McCain weren’t a dunce, what he would do is take Mitt Romney as his vice president,'’ she said on FOX. “That’s the only way, I think, you could get me to vote for him and that’s my final offer.”

  1. Do people really care what this drama queen thinks or says? …She brings in ratings but so did Rosie and for the same reason….

  2. Well, I don’t know about Romney in particular, but Ann is right - McCain needs a solid conservative as a running mate. I’m not sure Romney is really the best answer, but she’s a fan of his, and she’s on the right track.

  3. She’s been at this shtick for about a decade, and has to be more and more outrageous in order to get attention (and attention = book sales). *Yawn*

  4. Exuse me where does Ann Coulter get off thinking she is that important and this goes for Rush and Hannity. If Ted Kennedy and Caroline Kennedy as well as Oprah could not help Obama what makes them think they matter. They don’t matter to me. I am capable, the last time I checked, of making my own decisions as to voting.

  5. Obviously McCain didn’t need her vote to win what he’s won so far… nor Rush’s. And if they’re dumb enough to sit home on election day then that’s their issue. Obviously, they aren’t as powerful as they thought or as neccessary to their party as they thought.

  6. AND FURTHERMORE, I am so tired of the pundits in Washington D.C. and New York speaking for the whole country. They make me sick.

  7. She was on the Today Show today, and said some interesteing things. When is FBN going to be available to more people? I for one would like to see it. Sounds like they’re broadcasting some interesting interviews to nobody.

  9. Cathy, Greta ranted about that in her blog a little last week or the week before. She feels the same way you do - why do celebrities or others think we care who they are voting for?

  10. I just feel everyone has an agenda whether it is a pundit or Ann Coulter. I feel people can make up their own minds. Don’t we have brains…..

  11. Everyone, please keep in mind that Ann is speaking to a certain segment - a conservative audience. What she says makes perfect sense to many of us, but I’m sure it’s quite foreign to the majority of the country. I am actually surprised that anyone outside of conservative circles would even consider any of her thoughts.

On average, most of the country is moderate, so they find McCain appropriate and Ann Coulter, Rush et al to be on the fringe. But those of us who are conservative and who do follow politics closely do resent John McCain for his actions on judicial appointees, tax cuts, illegal immigration, etc. When we had the majority in Congress and could actually do something, McCain would often vote with the other side, thereby rendering our majority useless!

Do you remember how the democrats dumped Joe Lieberman just last year to support the very leftist, anti-war Ned Lamont? That’s how we feel about McCain - his positions, like Lieberman’s, are just too moderate, and he crosses “over the aisle” way too much. While this is not bad outrightly, but to true partisans, this deviates from our party’s positions.

However, since the POTUS must preside over the entire country, I do realize that a moderate, or someone who is known for compromise, may in fact be the most likely winner of the election.

But back to these “celebrity” statements. Political pundits at least have some credibility when they speak, as they are often students of history, of the constitution and of day-to-day politics. But people such as Rosie O’Donnell, Michael Moore, Roseanne Barr, etc. typically have little education and may not even be aware of all of a politician’s positions on all subjects. Basically, all we know is that they hate Bush, want “change”, and feel compelled to speak out. So in that case, why should we listen to them? Others, such as Oprah, seem to have studied their candidate in depth and may in fact be informed when speaking.

As always, we’ve all been given wisdom to think for ourselves. Take the info. that these people provide (if you trust the source), compare with other sources and then decide for yourselves.

  12. I think McCain would be smart to do a “Sister Soljah” on Coulter.

Then again, her and the other “media conservatives” are positioning themselves for jobs after November, so what they have to say now is all about positioning for future gigs.

  13. There is one person and only one person McCain should select as Vice-President. That man is Mike Huckabee, who has received the blessings and endorsement from his Holiness James Dobson.

As for needing endorsements from Anne Coulter and her ilk, they don’t call these people DittoHeads (or my preferred word of “drones”) for nothing.

  14. How’s Ned Lamont doing, Elmonica?

And you have the nerve to call other people “drones.” HA!

  15. Elmo drones on and on and on about the same crap here everyday and she’s calling other people drones?

  16. Missy, while Ann Coulter is more educated than the likes of Rosie, Moore, etc., I have a hard time taking her seriously as a pundit.

Although I tend to agree with much of her politics, I think she’s a bombthrower and thrives on stunts, instead of the force of her logic and verbal skills.
