I’d found this quite interesting.. Perhaps some of the male/female diva’s at FNC think the place can’t run without them??

I would like to know who he is talking about. I watch Fox all the time and I can’t think of anyone who is bitching. Who ever it is they must be doing so off air

I don’t remember who, but remember on TVN there was a little story of how one anchor was getting all the airtime and the others were “jealous”? Maybe there’s more stuff like that going on behind the scenes than we know about…

I wonder exactly who he is talking about.

I’m sure the situation at FNC is no different than at MSNBC, CNN, or any other television network. Being on air requires a certain amount of ego in the first place, and these people didn’t get to where they are by sitting around idly, so a certain amount of jockeying is to be expected. That said, I appreciate Ailes’ sentiment that they should appreciate being where they are and the jobs they have.

If I was replaced by Courtney Friel, I’d be bitching too. Of course, that’s likely the only exception to justifiably sow discontent. But they need to get her reading prompters and doing less interactions. Beauty isn’t everything. Talent is.
I also found Roger’s e-mail very intriguing. It speaks to why he’s so successful, he knows just how to tackle an issue. My favorite part of his email was:
“But today, I sometimes hear too much (…) a desire to have what someone else has. Of course there are exceptions to this and we all know who they are, on the other hand do not assume I am talking about someone else.”
On the other hand! Love that.

I wish Ailes managed where I work. Employee moral is so low, it’s like one non-stop bitch-fest.
I think the most important thing Ailes reminds his staff is that they’re not obligated to hang around. I think a lot of people forget that. If you don’t like it… there’s the door… so kwitcherbitchin!

I wonder if Shepherd Smith’s contract made a few waves. He’s probably only behind Hume and O’Reilly. I wouldn’t assume its just the women folk. (Though Megan Kendall’s rise to political reporter does raise an eyebrow). She’s just not good. Reporting New York exit poll results as if they were nationwide?
And of course, there could be a lot of stuff going on behind the camera.

Imno,
Does any work get done in the department you work for?
Comment by elmonica — February 8, 2008 @ 5:41 pm
DanOregon,
I doubt this is about Shep. There’s really no one in his league to be bitching, except those on prime time, and I doubt they would. And we cannot assume this stems from a single incident, as that would not’ve necessitated an e-mail to all staff.
I do wonder if Eric Burns’ successful show has been a source of complaining. It doesn’t get repeats like other shows, despite eclipsing them in ratings. Who knows.

Cant be Hemmer either…he is working yet again tomorrow…Thi makes 7 days on the air…I expect he worked last Sat as well for preparation for Sun and Tues….
The man loves to step up to the plate…

I remember Hemmer when he was on CNN. Man has the man come bursting out of his shell.

I would venture to guess is related to election coverage - clearly some people are getting a lot of air time while others are not. It’s hard to imagine that Courtney Friel - moron that she is -would stir up enough people to cause RA to send a company wide email

With some of the weekend changes that have been made plus the return of Heather Nauert, I think there may be too much talent fighting for too little airtime.
Where is that Uma Pemmaraju fan when we need him? :)
Comment by ira — February 8, 2008 @ 8:01 pm
*laughs* There must be two Uma fans, because I’m certainly one. (Kisses. Call me.)

Yes, Elmo… work gets done. And done surprisingly well, all things considered. We’re just not all that happy doing it.
In fact, I’d bet that the vast majority of people on this board have seen my handiwork at least once, in the past few months.
Comment by ImNotBlue — February 8, 2008 @ 9:19 pm
I do remember reading that there has been grumbling by those who have lost airtime to Coutney Friel. It would be discouraging if you had a journalism background to be replaced by a swimsuit model.
Comment by newsfan — February 8, 2008 @ 9:53 pm
So the answer to someone complaining about another underqualified person getting their air time is to “stop bitching or quit?”
Kissing Roger Ailes butt to keep your job at fnc???
What a joke!
Comment by Silky — February 10, 2008 @ 1:14 pm
It appears that the email went out to FNC worldwide - not just NYC and DC. Maybe the whining is elsewhere in the world? Just guess. Of course I have NO idea. (Although there’s whining everywhere!)
