Not defending Shuster's remark, but as this transcript reads they left out the praise that Shuster heaped on Chelsea Clinton before he made that remark. He's not exactly getting a fair shake, regardless of how stupid his choice of words were.

What I don't like is Clinton writing a letter to the network essentially calling for Shuster's firing given that a debate is hanging the balance.

This isn't the first apology Shuster has had to make, so I wouldn't fault MSNBC for making a business decision that Shuster is too much of a loose cannon....but it wouldn't be right if this was a case of Clinton muscling the network by putting their debate in the balance.

Is anyone keeping track, Imus, she signed the letter to have Rush Limbaugh censured, David Shuster. This has been a brutal election cycle.

It has to do with money. Debate money to be specific. That's it.

How can they bring up Olbermann without including the fact that he, too, used the term "pimp" when speaking of the President and Gen. Petraeus? (we've all seen this reference ad nauseum this weekend amid this fiasco).

This is getting sickening. Why are the Clintons afforded more protection and respect than is our current President and current commander of our forces in Iraq? And this is NOT a rhetorical question that I'm asking!

Keith is NOT above reproach and has no right apologizing for anyone. He needs to issue his own apology to Messrs Bush and Petraeus, and then to our armed forces and their families. He maligned an entire army (literally), not just a woman and her daughter.

Goldfish, I agree that this is beginning to seem very Imus-esque to me. At this point, I'd be kinda surprised if Shuster kept his job at NBC.

KURTZ: He was talking about an exercise routine.

"Working the pole"... the new exercise routine... everybody's doing it! I think Richard Simmons has a video out.

Yeesh... that hurts Kurtz's credibility. To just brush off an insulting remark by Scarborough... repeating what was a pretty weak explanation of, "it was an exercise routine." Not good Howie... why so adverse to talking about that?
